way you can. We have to keep
growing and maturing, take good
shots, work for layups with a lead,
get to the free throw line. One bad
shot can get things going in the
wrong direction. We have to learn
from it, and we will.
Hays started to eat away at the
Lady Redskin lead, and the Lady
Redskins went six minutes without
scoring.
Hays went on a 9-0 run during
the Lady redskin drought to cut the
lead to six, 38-32 with 4:14 to play.
The Lady Redskins knocked
down four of six free throws in the
final 1:37 to preserve the 42-34 win.
I thought we did a pretty good
job on the defensive end in the
fourth quarter when we went
through our offensive struggles,
Kruger said. Its odd, weve been a
good fourth quarter team all year
long, and we have hit a little rough
patch here in the last three games,
but I think we can definitely
overcome it in the future.
Jada Mickens led the Lady
Redskins with 13 points, and senior
standout Limon went on to win the
Homecoming Queen crown.
We got a lot of contributions
form the bench, Kruger said.
Samm Terrazas made a great play
at the end of the third quarter. It
was a big swing for us. We have
some kids that dont get the opportunity that some others get, but they
have brought energy for us tonight.
The focus now shifts to the
Cimarron Lady Blue Jays Tuesday.
Our goal is to take it one game at
a time, but we have to feel like we
need to win out, Kruger said. We
can host a home playoff games if we Carolina Limon puts up a shot against Hays Friday night.

third overtime with another athletic
shot, and Liberal had a 52-51 lead.
After Hays missed, Fitzgerald
brought the Redskins up the floor and
after lulling the Indians to sleep by
passing around the perimeter he fired
a pass to Cole Evans at the block. Two

the court to Green who delivered a
monster dunk that brought the crowd
to its feet in a deafening roar, and
Fitzgerald added a late free throw for
the 57-51 win.
Fitzgerald turned the corner after an
early turnover in the first quarter.
Since I had the turnover, coach gets
mad, he said. My mentality is to
keep him calm. Once he loses it, our
team sees that and they want to lose
control. So I have to try to keep the
team calm and not have any
turnovers.

Liberal coach Scott Hinkle never

doubted that Fitzgerald could take
over a game.
Hes the littlest guy but he has the
biggest heart, Hinkle said. He
showed that tonight by giving his
crown to Daniel Rivera. That shows
what kind of kid he is.
Hinkle told his team it was gut
check time and for the third time this
season, the Redskins won in overtime
The crowd was unbelievable,
Hinkle said. They have no idea what
this does for our kids. This was a
community win.
The win moved the Redskins into a
tie with Hays for the WAC lead.
