1) How do the three types of organization development practitioner differ from each other?
-Generalist organization development practitioner, They are the one who specializing
Organizational
Development as a profession.. They tend to have common training, skills and experience in
social processes of organizations like group dynamics, decision making and communication.
-Specialist organization development practitioner, are the one who specializing in fields
related to Organizational development, such as reward system, organization design, total quality,
information technology and business strategy
-Functional organization development practitioner, are the one who gained competence in
Organizational development and who apply it to their own work areas such as managers.
2) What knowledge and skills would organization development professionals possess?
-The knowledge that must possess by organization development professionals are
individual psychology which requires having a good understanding of the learning, motivation
and perception of individual. Group dynamics, which concerned with managing varied roles in
the organization, making correct and favorable decisions, functional knowledge, awareness of
cultural diversity and having the expertise in handling data and information, preparing research
designs and using inferential statistics in decision making. The skills that must possess by OD
professionals are behavioral skills, Leadership skills, communication skills,
negotiation skills and problem solving skills.
3. Why is knowledge of individual psychology and organizational behavior important to the OD
consultant?
- The knowledge of individual psychology and organizational behavior of OD consultant is
important because they need to handle him/her professionally and avoid any form of misconduct
and client abuse.
4. What personal skills are important to the organizational development professionals?
-Leadership skills, because having this skill can lead to commitment of professional, ability
to resolve problems and driving every aspect of the organization towards a singular unified
purpose.
5. How helpful are negotiation skills to the organization development consultant? Answer by
giving an example.
-Negotiation skills are important for OD consultant because it helps him/her minimize or
eliminate the conflicts and bring more understanding at the least acceptance, cooperation and
collaboration among the individual. For example: when OD consultant dealing with employees
who argues on the salary and benefits they are recieving, having good negotiation skills of OD
consultant can establish a good decision making to come up with best possible solution on the
problem.
