Student Outcome #1
The student will be able to:

Increase their effectiveness in private and public organizational setting

For this reflective paper, I present my Case Study paper for GR532 Special Topic title Effective
Communication Between Education Administration and Teachers to demonstrate how the course
has increased my effectiveness in private and public organizational setting. In this class, I
examined how principals and teacher use dialogue in their daily communications and discover
how the dialogue influences teachers motivation. This paper focuses on the Ministry of
Education as it explores the importance of effective communication between education
administration (principals) and teachers. Thus, it has helped to motivate me professionally and
improve my personal communication skills.

In my statement of the problem, I explain that effective communication is very important and
significant in the Educational Administration of the Cayman Islands and plays a vital role in
accomplishing the vision and mission of the organization. Teachers who are distracted and
unhappy about their principals poor communication skills which are sometimes non-verbal
tension (such as silence and withholding information), job satisfaction and motivation are
lowered which in the long run can reflect negatively in the students output.

I learned that to be an effective manager; it is important to know that good communication

between the public and private organizations help increase staff motivation. According to

Robbins and Judge (2014), motivation is the process that accounts for an individual s intensity,
direction, and persistence of effort toward attaining a goal. Based on the communication study I
completed, results show that values and attitudes about work and collaboration affect how
activities are conducted.

Lewis et al. (2007), stated that managers must be leaders who lead effectively, understand the
dynamics of individual and group behavior, and can motivate their employees and be effective
communicators. I agree with the researchers Robbins and Judge (2014), who explained that it is
very important for organizations to have strong leadership and strong management for optimal
effectiveness. Especially with the world of internet use, information technology, and increased
globalization, leaders today in the 21st century need to be highly motivated to challenge the
status quo, create visions of the future and inspire the organizational members.
