This past weekend I had the time of my life.

First, Friday night, I had my best friend

over and we made a delicious, mouth-watering pizza. After we ate, we had a friendly
video game competition. On Saturday, my dad took us out on the boat. The weather
was perfect and the water was warm. It was a great day to go for a swim. Later that
night, we went to the movies. We saw an action packed thriller and ate a lot of popcorn.
Finally, on Sunday, we rode our bikes all over town. By the end of the day, my legs were
very tired. I only hope that next weekend can be as fun as this one. NAARATIVE

My most valuable possession is an old, slightly warped blond guitar--the first instrument
I taught myself how to play. 2 It's nothing fancy, just a Madeira folk guitar, all scuffed and
scratched and finger-printed. 3 At the top is a bramble of copper-wound strings, each one
hooked through the eye of a silver tuning key. 4 The strings are stretched down a long,
slim neck, its frets tarnished, the wood worn by years of fingers pressing chords and
picking notes. 5 The body of the Madeira is shaped like an enormous yellow pear, one
that was slightly damaged in shipping. 6 The blond wood has been chipped and gouged
to gray, particularly where the pick guard fell off years ago. 7No, it's not a beautiful
instrument, but it still lets me make music, and for that I will always treasure it.
DESCRIPTIVE

A racist can be defined as a prejudiced person who discriminates because of another

individuals outer appearance or race. Racism can all start as a child being raised with
negative thoughts, or can be brought upon by personal reasons. For example, growing up in
a racist family will give adolescent awful thoughts about a race without even experiencing
how they really feel first hand. A different example of how one might unfortunately choose
to be racist would be if a person visits a country, and a negative event took place; this
person might become racist toward a group of people that lived there all because of one
personal event that happened. This is not a type of person that treats people like how they
want to treated, but it is a form of hatred toward a set of people. This kind of person might
use mental abuse, or they can even get physically abusive toward the kind of race they are
discriminate towards. They also can have a type of attitude that thinks that they are better
than certain groups and cultures. Racism is a negative concept that put down people for no
real reason. Racism is a form of ignorance and inequity and only one could wish for this
discrimination to stop all together in order for everybody to get along. DEFINITION

In most respects, after all, Woodstock was a disaster. To begin with, it rained and
rained for weeks before the festival, and then, of course, it rained during the festival.
The promoters lost weeks of preparation time when the site had to be switched twice.
They rented Yasgurs field less than a month before the concert. The stage wasnt
finished, and the sound system was stitched together perilously close to the start of the
show. As soon as the festival opened, the water- and food-delivery arrangements broke
down, the gates and fences disintegrated, and tens of thousands of new bodies kept
pouring in. (One powerful lure was the rumor that the revered Bob Dylan was going to
perform; he wasnt.) In response to an emergency appeal for volunteers, fifty doctors
were flown in. The Air Force brought in food on Huey helicopters, and the Womens
Community Center in Monticello sent thirty thousand sandwiches. One kid was killed as
he was run over by a tractor, one died of appendicitis, and another died of a drug
overdose.
Differences between the potential of girls and boys could be observed since their childhood. Female
infants speak sooner, have larger vocabularies, and rarely demonstrate speech defects. (Stuttering,
for instance, occurs almost exclusively among boys.) Girls exceed boys in language abilities, and this
early linguistic bias often prevails throughout life. Girls read sooner, learn foreign languages more
easily, and, as a result, are more likely to enter occupations involving language mastery. Boys, in
contrast, show an early visual superiority. They are also clumsier, performing poorly at something like
arranging a row of beads, but excel at other activities calling on total body coordination. Their
attentional mechanisms are also different. A boy will react to an inanimate object as quickly as he will
to a person. A male baby will often ignore the mother and babble to a blinking light, fixate on a
geometric figure, and at a later point, manipulate it and attempt to take it apart. CONTRAST

The atmosphere of Earth acts like any window in serving two very important functions: to let light in
and to permit us to look out and to guard Earth from dangerous or uncomfortable things. A normal
glazed window lets us keep our house warm by keeping out cold air. In such a way, the Earths
atmospheric window helps to keep our planet to a comfortable temperature by holding back radiated
heat and protecting us from dangerous levels of ultraviolet light. Just like a window which prevents
rain, dirt, and unwelcome insects and animals from coming in, scientists have discovered that space
is full of a great many very dangerous things against which our atmosphere guards us.
COMPARISON

In recent decades, cities have grown so large that now about

50% of the Earth's population lives in urban areas. There are
several reasons for this occurrence. First, the increasing
industrialization of the nineteenth century resulted in the
creation of many factory jobs, which tended to be located in
cities. These jobs, with their promise of a better material life,
attracted many people from rural areas. Second, there were

many schools established to educate the children of the new

factory laborers. The promise of a better education persuaded
many families to leave farming communities and move to the
cities. Finally, as the cities grew, people established places of
leisure, entertainment, and culture, such as sports stadiums,
theaters, and museums. For many people, these facilities made
city life appear more interesting than life on the farm, and
therefore drew them away from rural communities.
On most part, energy is created by burning fossil fuels -- coal, natural gas and oil. The problem with this is
that these resources are finite. At the current rate of use, it is expected that the world will run out of fossil
fuels in thirty to forty years to come. As a result, it will no longer be possible to generate power to operate
factories and vehicles or to light and heat houses. This world-wide problem can be resolved through the
implementation of two possible solutions. The first solution is to improve conservation efforts. In order to
do this, governments can try to raise public awareness, discourage over-consumption and encourage
recycling. For example, they can encourage the installation of high-efficiency light bulbs in homes and
offices. They can inform the public of the amount of energy saved by simply turning off lights that are not
being used or by using public transport more and cars less. They can also pass laws mandating the
recycling of whatever possible. Improvements in conservation will surely extend the life of current fuels
but they are not complete answers to what will happen when fossil fuels eventually run out. The second
and better solution, therefore, is to use alternative sources of energy to meet future needs. The current
leading alternatives to fossil fuels are solar energy and fusion, which is the union of atomic nuclei to form
heavier nuclei. Solar energy is directly obtained from the sun so it is easily accessible and pollution-free. It
can be used both to heat water and buildings and to generate electricity but mostly in countries that have
ample sunlight. Fusion, on the other hand, will make it possible for nuclear power plants to generate
enormous amounts of energy in order to meet the energy needs of the planet indefinitely. In addition,
despite public concern about safety and risk of contamination, fusion is a safe and clean source of energy
as modern power plants take strict safety measures to prevent potential nuclear disasters and leaks. In
conclusion, in order to have sufficient energy for the next century, it will be necessary to develop and
encourage the use of alternative energy sources worldwide.

Laughter is one of the greatest healing devices known to man. Laughter is powerful and can
help people in many different ways. It has the power to cure something as little as a bad day
or to heal the wounds of a terminally ill person. Laughing has helped create the smile which
is the universal sign of well being. Generally, individuals who do not laugh live miserably and
have unhappy lives. Dr. Robert Holden found out that smiling and laughing releases
endorphins in the brain which gives people a overall happy well being. Using comedy, many
doctors have stimulated the healing process in manic depressants and fatally ill patients
giving them hope and ambition. In many clinics laughter is being used in replacing anti
depressants and reduces the need for pain killers.(Dr. Gael Crystal). Take comedians for
example, they usually live long and happy lives. Putting a smile on faces and laughs in souls
is what makes life complete. Laughter helps heal people and brightens spirits for a better
and healthier life . Laughing is a sign of joy and hope and keeps people normal and the
world happy. Using the techniques of laughter and happiness is the best medicine known to
man. Laughter is the universal sign of well being and happiness within health. Laughing
brightens the spirit and heals the mind and body of people who allow it to overcome them.
So try a smile and laugh on for size and live a longer happier life with loved ones.
