Financial Controller

Job Summary:
Directs the financial affairs of the organization and prepares financial analyses of
operations, including interim and final financial statements with supporting schedules, for
the guidance of management. The controller is responsible for the companys financial
plans and policies, its accounting practices, the conduct of its relationships with the
financial firms, the maintenance of its fiscal records, and the preparation of financial
reports. The position involves supervision over general accounting, property accounting,
and budgetary controls.
Essential Functions:
1. Development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information
in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against
budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating
effectiveness of the organization.
2. Responsible for evaluating the performance of personnel on the Accounting
Department. This individual recommends training requirements, has the duty to
keep the staff at the highest-level skill necessary to meet company needs and
objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the
department. Designs, estasblishes and maintains organizational structure and
staffing to effectively accomplish the organizations goals and objectives.
3. Provides vision and strategy for the Accounting Department.
4. Maintains the companys system of accounts and keeps books and records on all
company transactions and assets.
5. Ensure that the accounting services are provided efficiently and effectively.
6. Establish major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares
reports that outline the companys financial position in the areas of income,
expenses and earning based on past, present and future operations.
7. Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and
maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting
system), and analyzes and reports variances.
8. Furnish internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and
efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary.
9. Evaluates and recommends insurance coverage for protection against property
losses and potential liabilities.
10. The controller has the final responsibilities for providing effective financial
controls for the organization
