You are required to answer one (1) question in Section D in the answer booklet provided.

By means of diagrams, explain the principle of operation of a centrifugal pump


used in drainage systems.

(b) (i) What type of pump is used on a wheel tractor to pump diesel to the cylinders?
(ii) What type of pump is used to pump lubricant to various parts of the engine?

Illustrate by means of diagrams a practical application of a hydraulic system.
