Who we are
Valentine Thomas & Partners is an independent, privately owned Executive Search boutique specialising in
the recruitment of senior professionals in the asset management, private banking and alternative investment
sectors.
The firm was founded in 2004 by Richard Valentine and Basil Reid Thomas who had previously worked
together for a number of years at Whitney Group, where they ran the European Asset Management practice.
The Position
Based at No 1 Cornhill in the heart of the City of London, Valentine Thomas & Partners offers placement
students the opportunity to experience at first hand the workings of the international financial system, with a
particular focus on the Fund Management sector.
We are familiar with the Industrial Placement programme and over the past 11 years we have taken on a
number of students. For 2017/18 we are looking to hire an additional Analyst to join our growing business,
which currently comprises three consultants and two researchers, backed up by IT and administrative
support.
We have a number of key clients in the UK and internationally for whom we conduct a wide range of
retained assignments to recruit senior individuals within front office roles. This is a research-intensive
process, based on background sector research, intelligence from our knowledge management systems /
database and active telephone research in the market.
The key duties of the role would be: To maintain the integrity of our knowledge management systems, particularly ensuring that all key
market news / information is captured and recorded on our database;
To assist the consultants in preparing presentation materials for client meetings, by researching /
collating relevant background sector data;
To assist the consultants in all aspects of the job, particularly in terms of providing specific desk based
research to support the delivery of assignments;
As well as an interest in the financial markets, the successful candidate will ideally be looking to develop a
career in either asset management or executive search. In addition, he/she will have an enquiring mind,
strong attention to detail and possess well developed verbal and numerical reasoning skills. A thorough
knowledge of Windows based applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc) is essential. You should
also be on course for a 2:1 degree in a Business Studies, Finance or Economics related degree.
