MACHINE UPGRADES

Handrails - Optional

R1700G SBR UPGRADE

In addition to the standard handrails, the R1700G

can be fitted with handrail group 9EQ9585 (3033875). These handrails are an optional safety feature and have been designed to meet ISO2867
and AS3868 standards.

Interlock - The Interlock system is a standard

fitment on all R1700G SBR models.
The interlock strategy was developed to eliminate
the major hazards involved with entering/exiting
the cab of Cat Underground machines. The interlock will perform two functions dependant on
various component inputs. It will either shut the
engine down or neutralise the steering and hydraulic systems.
The conditions of the interlock strategy are as follows:
Condition One
If all the following conditions are active for > 3
seconds, the interlock system will shut the engine down.
Ground Speed <3kph
Throttle Position <10%
Neutraliser not being used
Remote Switch Off
Parking Brake Switch in the released position
Service Brakes not applied
To recommence normal operation release
brake, restart the machine and then cycle the
parking brake switch.
Condition Two
If all of the following conditions are active, the
steering & hydraulics' will neutralise
immediatley.
Ground speed <3kph
Parking Brake Switch in the engaged position
Remote Swicth is off
To recommence normal operation release
brake, cycle the parking brake switch.

increased by 6% which has allowed for increased
airflow for improved ambient capability.

In an effort to develop a common look and feel

accross the entire Caterpillar Product Range,
Caterpillar UGM has changed its current "beltline"
trade dress to the new Power Edge trade dress
decals. The decals will be fitted to all underground equipment exiting the factory from 1st February 2007. Machines exiting the factory before
this date will not be fitted with the new Power
Edge trade dress decals. The primary element
of the new Power Edge trade dress decals is

Brake Release System (Loaders)

Caterpillar UGM offers two optional brake release
systems. A recovery bar brake release system and
a recovery hook brake release system.
The recovery bar brake release system uses a
recovery bar attached to the recovery machine
whilst the recovery hook brake release system
uses a tow line attached to the recovery hook of
the disabled machine.
Both methods exert an external force on the piston within the cylinder group releasing the park
brake.
A recovery bar group is available for the recovery
bar system (figure 1) but the recovery hook system (figure 2) is used in conjunction with the
mines own towing devices. (No attachment tool
available).
