SOP FOR LDO CHARGING

PURPOSE : This procedure is used as work instruction for Charging of LDO Station at
Firing Floor.
SCOPE: This procedure is applicable to Fuel Oil System located in JPL 4X600 MW.
RESPONSIBILITY: Boiler Operator, Field/Desk Engineer, Unit Control Engineer & Shift In
charge.
PROCEDURE DETAILS:
PRE CHECKS AND NORMALIZATION:
1) Ensure No MFT or boiler trip condition.
2) Ensure Purge complete criteria.
3) Ensure at least one LDO pump is in running in short recirculation.
4) Ensure LDO header pr at FOPH is about >10 kg/cm2.
5) Ensure no leakages throughout the line.
6) Ensure LOTV Closed and all elevations LONV and manual isolation valve are closed.
7) Ensure LDO drain valves are closed.
8) Ensure vent valves open for proper venting.
9) Ensure healthiness of suction filter.
10) Note down the LDO Drain Oil Tank Level.
CHARGING PROCEDURE :
1) Open inlet isolation valve 'LO21A' at firing station and open manual recirculation
valve 'LO48A'and establish LDO flow.
2) Through all valves of LDO Firing Station, take flow meter & control valve in service
and close their individual bypass line.
3) Open return line isolation valve 'LO49A'.
4) Open two vents LO29A & LO29B available in oil header.
5) Check oil pressure and maintain to 5 6 kg/sq cm before control valve.
6) Open LOTV and open LORV three way valve.
7) Open LOCV slowly and let oil to fill in the circuit.
8) Throttle Manual recirculation valve 'LO48A'.
9) Slowly increase the pressure and watch pressure after LOCV.
10)
Close the vents when proper LDO flow is observed.
11)
Check for any leakage in LDO station as well as all lines up to all elevations.
12)
Keep oil flow in long recirculation and maintain LDO pressure with the help of
LOCV and Short Recirculation control valve.
SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE :
1) Reduce LOCV to maintain LDO pressure 4 5 Kg/sq cm.
2) Open manual recirculation valve 'LO48A'.
3) Close LOCV and LOTV.

4) Maintain min pressure at LDO pump station and stop the pump by following
Shutdown procedure of LDO pump.
5) Close Supply and return isolation valve 'LO21A' & 'LO49A'.
6) Drain LDO to DOT if there is long shutdown or maintenance work on pipe line etc.
