What implications does this vulnerability

have for Singaporeans?
Singapore has had a history that is filled with disagreements with other
countries and even within our country, it is hard to say that for such as small
country, that we are not vulnerable to threats from external and internal
sources. With the retreat of British forces in WW2, leading to the Japanese
Occupation in Singapore, we have learnt that we can only rely on ourselves
and not on other countries to defend for us. That is why the Singapore has
developed National Service which ensures that we have a defence force that
is constantly active to fend for our country. Even with our current defence
force, the current number of individuals serving in the SAF are not that high,
hence when faced with a full force attack by another country, we may not be
able to hold our grounds. That is why it is with upmost importance that
singapore develop strong diplomatic ties with political figures of other
countries, this bilateral relationships ensures that we not only have good
relations with other countries but also brings in much more advantages such
as trading, providing our country with strong defence and economic
developments. Even though Singapore may not be vulnerable to attacks or
threats by other countries, terrorists may still prove to be a major threat.
Although singapore has intercepted many terror attacks in the past through
the intelligience that we have discovered, we have to keep an eye out for
suspicious activities and remain vigilant. Although Singapore may not be as
vulnerable to terror attacks, this may have implications on the mindsets of
our citizens, many of the citizens may be unaware of the dangers of terrorist
as we have not felt the full force of terror attacks, that is why we must always
keep in mind the dangers of terrorist and to ensure that we are always alert
in the light of recent terrorist attacks.
