In a fire situation, our

systems will prevent:
1.

Ignition of the cable insulation.

2.

Release of toxic fumes from

the cable insulation.

3.

Release of poisonous gas (HCL)

from the cable insulation.

4.

The cable tray from melting

and collapsing.

Uncoated cables experience a short circuit after

less than 2 minutes in an oil fire while cables
coated with Fire Security coatings will function
up to 1 hour without a short circuit.

FS-1 is an in tumescent coating

system that will expand 100 times
its thickness under a fire.

Areas of application
Upgrading of existing cables in order to
provide fire resistant properties in
accordance with the IEC-Publication 331.
Our coating has been tested in a
hydrocarbon fire for 60 minutes.
Upgrading of existing cables in order to
withstand hydrocarbon fire conditions of
1100 degree Celsius.

The orange curve shows the

temperature of an ISO fire which
is a fire in a normal building.
The red curve shows the
temperature of an oil fire, which is
the temperature Fire Security has
tested their coatings.
This is the temperature you will be
facing if you had a fire.

Areas of application
Protecting vital cables of the emergency
systems that are running through high-risk
areas compared to the alternative of
changing or re-routing them.
To comply with Solas convention
regulations with regards to fire stops.
Living quarters where it is required to
make existing cable halogen free.

Areas of application
To repair cable jackets that have been or
may be damaged by synthetic oil, mud and
drilling fluids etc.
To repair cable jackets that have cracked
and allowing water ingress and corrosion
to occur.
To repair cable jackets that have been
damaged by heat or outdoor environments.

ABS has used due diligence in the preparation of this certificate and it represents the information on the product in the ABS Records as of
the date and time the certificate was printed. Type Approval requires Drawing Assessment, Prototype Testing and assessment of the
manufacturer's quality assurance and quality control arrangements. Limited circumstances may allow only Prototype Testing to satisfy Type
Approval. The approvals of Drawings and Products remain valid as long as the ABS Rule, to which they were assessed, remains valid. ABS
cautions manufacturers to review and maintain compliance with all other specifications to which the product may have been assessed.
Further, unless it is specifically indicated in the description of the product; Type Approval does not necessarily waive witnessed inspection or
survey procedures (where otherwise required) for products to be used in a vessel, MODU or facility intended to be ABS classed or that is
presently in class with ABS. Questions regarding the validity of ABS Rules or the need for supplemental testing or inspection of such
products should, in all cases, be addressed to ABS.

Ole Tom,
We here on the Cajun Express are very pleased with the cable coating job that your company
has preformed for us in the sack room. The job was carried out in a very efficient and professional
manor. Mr. Jan Quarsten and Mr. Ketil Bjorkaas were very professional and a pleasure to work with.
We had considered replacing and rerouting the cables which would have been very expensive, and all
electrical equipment related to this wiring would have been shut down indefinitely during this job. With
the cable coating we were able to isolate only the wires that needed insulation repairs which your
company preformed before coating any cables. One of Transocean's core values is finical discipline
and I feel we have meet this by using your company to coat the wires instead of replacing them. I
would recommend your company to any one of our rigs that may be having similar problems as we
had. Again I would to thank your company for a job well done.
Regards,
Larry
