Five machine vision applications to keep an eye on in 2014

Whilemanymanufacturersarealreadyemployingautomatedinspectionsystemsthatincorporatevisioncomponentstoincreasethe
efficiencyandqualityoftheprocessesandproducts,wemayhaveonlyhitthetipoftheicebergwhenitcomestothepotentialof
machinevision.Bythat,Imeanthatthemachinevisionmarketwillexpandtoencompasseverythingfromharvestingcropsand
mineralstodeliveringproductsdirectlytoconsumersdoors.Inafuturethatdemandsincreasedefficiency,suchmachinevision
systemswillbeusedinsystemsthatautomateentireproductionprocesses,effectivelyeliminatingthemanpoweranderrorsthatthis
entails.

ImagerprojectsonasinglearrayCCDsensorfourimagesofthesameobjectcorrespondingtofourdifferentspectralbands.
EquippedwithaCinegonlensfromSchneiderOptics,cameraimageswerethenacquiredusingaGrablinkValueCameraLink
