Orientation course Centre for priesthood

Minor Seminary
Orientation course center for priesthood (Minor Seminary)
The design proposal intends to recreate the spaces in a ruin to accommodate an Orientation
Course Center for priesthood and Senior citizen's day care center.
Expressing Spirituality through Architectural spaces is the main idea of this project.
As the major part of the site was facing the south, maximizing the natural day light coming
inside the building was the idea which framed the entire project by letting in the diffused light.
Light is an important aspect in the design of a building, not just as a way to illuminate a space,
but rather conceptualizing light as a creator of space.
Concept of light is taken further ahead by designingLight regulating towers from where the
diffused light is got in the structure. The seminarians when walking the corridor will have to pass
through these towers where the cross station paintings will be lined up on the walls receiving the
spiritual feeling.
Inclined openings are provided to maximize day light coming in due to less reflection, and with
intensely lit work areas it will keep the occupants wide awake with the sense of openness by
taking benefits of the volume of the spaces.
The chapel which is centrally located occupies a special place of the rising sun. A high vertical
slit is provided to let in the morning light, where the main cross of the chapel is being
placed. This Minor Seminary will be an exploratory base for the vitality of materials, textures,
and colours brought jointly in one place, where emphasis will be given more on maximizing the
natural day light coming inside the building from different exposures and allowing the spaces to
flow through the proposed light emitting towers.
