Overview
The NPRAE (New Primary Rate Access E1) board replaces the PRA2 board.
This board can be used to connect an Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Communication
Server to:
-

Another Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise CS in a private network (ABC-F, Q-SIG)

A non Alcatel PBX in a private network (DPNSS)

A public network (ISDN, DASS2)

The NPRAE board can provide either:

-

Two E1CCS (T2) accesses

One DASS2 access (as of R6.1)

One DPNSS access (as of R6.1)

Note:
For DASS2 and DPNSS, access 0 is the only access available.

At initialization, binaries are sent according to the type of board declared on the PCX. These
types are:
-

NPRAE for E1-CCS

DASS2E for DASS2

DPNSSE for DPNSS

Clock synchronization can be obtained from the board access if needed to synchronize the
node.
NPRAE board configuration is described in NPRAE - Hardware configuration .
NPRAE board connection is described in NPRAE - External connections .

Meaning of LEDs

Figure 2.6: NPRAE Board Front Panel

Under CPU/BSY line, the first column of LEDs gives information on the DASS2, DPNSS or first
E1 link, the second column gives information on the second E1 link.

LED
CPU (green LED)

Explanation

Processor activity indicator

BSY (orange LED) Trunk activity indicator (for at

least one trunk)
LOS

Loss of frame alignment

After detecting incorrect frame

alignment.

AIS

Alarm Indication Signal (2 Mbits Incoming signal is an unframed bit

alarm signal)
stream with constant one.

RAI

Remote Alarm Indication

Distant line end signalizes an alarm.

NOS

Loss of Signal

Input signal has an insufficient bit rate

or an insufficient density of ones.

Note:
No led is available for CRC error ratio.

Connection
The NPRAE board is inserted in an interface position in the ACT shelf.

Figure 3.1: Connecting the NPRAE Board

If the connection is:
-

by cable: connection to the main distribution frame is via a type 2 cable (see TY2
96PTSDIN cable - Hardware description),

Note:
the second T2 interface is distributed on the pairs corresponding to the first T0 interface of a BPRA
board.

by coaxial cable: connection to the data transmission equipment is via 4 type 5 cables (see
module TY5 9PTS DIN/BNC cable - Hardware description),
Caution:
the NPRAE board uses the same 75 ohm cables as the PRA2 board, but the first link reception
cable (75 ohms) must be connected to position 1820, instead of position 1012 for the PRA2
board.

3.2

by patch panel (VH cabinet only): connection is directly performed using the patch panel:
16-port 4-wire module (see Patch Panel - 16 ports module - 16 ports module).
