In Literacy

In Math

Students will focus on literature text. They infer the

theme of a story, drama, or poem and use text
details to as evidence to explain their thinking. They
will compare themes by making connections
between a text, visual, or oral presentation.

Students will be to find factor pairs for a whole

number and determine if it is prime or composite.
They will explain equivalent fractions and
compare fractions with a visual fraction model.
They will also use visual fraction models to add
and subtract mixed and equivalent fractions.

In Writing...
Students will complete an informative writing piece.
We will begin by selecting a topic, researching and
gathering information, and planning our ideas. The
ideas will be developed with an introduction,
supported by strong linking reasons, and followed
up with a concluding paragraph.
In Social Studies
The first part of Marking Period 3 will be dedicated
to Science. Students will study earth and Space
Science by describing different weather conditions
using data from weather instruments, models or
drawings. They will also describe how the amount of
water on Earth continues to stay the same even
though it changes forms.
Students will also learn about Physical Science: We
will describe the observable and measurable
properties of matter. As well as compare sample
materials using various tools of measurement to
calculate the size, capacity, mass, and weight of
objects.

Please Remember
When developing multiplication skills it is
important to consider the unknown in every
position. For example:
8 x 7 = __
__ x 7 = __
8 x __ = 56
As well as the inverse, division:
__ = 56 7
56 8 =
__ 7 = 8
