A dedicated CADCAM solution for the manufacture of turbo-machinery components used in the automotive, aerospace

and power generation industries.

Blade, blisk and impeller machining is a dedicated solution for manufacturing turbo machinery components used in the automotive,
aerospace and power generation industries. PowerMILLs automated five-axis strategies allow complex parts to be programmed
efficiently so you can rough and finish the hub and blade components with minimal user effort. Intelligent collision avoidance
ensures parts are machined safely and as efficiently as possible.
Making complex operations simple is at the core of PowerMILLs philosophy. This has never been demonstrated more clearly
than in our options for blades, blisks and impellers. PowerMILLs automated approach allows complex parts to be programmed
efficiently, with minimal user effort. Intelligent collision avoidance ensures programs run safely, with no infringements on the tool,
holder, fixture or clamps.
Simplifying the Process
Dedicated strategies have been developed to guide you through the complete process of
machining your component. PowerMILLs knowledge of the stock remaining ensures that
bulk material is safely removed before starting any finishing routines.

Fine Tuning Toolpaths

In addition to the dedicated strategies, toolpaths can be enhanced with tool-axis editing,
feed rate optimization and improved point distribution. Intelligent point distribution
along the toolpath ensures programs are optimised for your machine control and machine
configuration, ensuring the smoothest surface finish and highest accuracy.
Semi-Finishing

Spiral Machining for Blades (new feature for PowerMILL 2012 onwards)
A new Spiral Blade Finishing option in PowerMILL 2012 enables spiralling between consecutive

closed passes around the blade. Benefits:

Improved ability to find a safe tool axis

Minimises tool axis changes between passes for a better surface finish
Helps users to successfully machine more parts
Blade-Finishing

Blade Finishing Tool Axis Improvements for Blisks

The hub and shroud can now be used if they slope upwards
The existing Tool Axis functionality now provides smoother changes in tool axis movements
Safer Tool Axis identification
