Chillicothe Police Working to Halt Overdoses

The Chillicothe Police Department is currently investigating seven (7) overdoses that occurred
today as well as five (5) overdoses that occurred yesterday, one (1) of which was fatal. During the
course of these investigations, the Chillicothe Police Department Emergency Response Team
executed three (3) drug search warrants on houses in our city. These search warrants were as a
result of a joint operation involving the Chillicothe Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, The
Ross County Sheriffs Office, and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. Details on the
search warrants will be released tomorrow, as detectives are still actively involved in these

Investigation Crime Lab, confirming the presence of Carfentanil in drugs seized in our city. It is
unknown if Carfentanil is responsible for the current overdoses, at this time. The Chillicothe Police
Department would encourage anyone who has contact with a known opiate addict to advise them of
these potential dangers.

The Chillicothe Police Department is continuing to actively investigate these overdoses and
apprehend those responsible for dispensing these drugs into our city. If you have information
concerning these are any other potential investigations please contact the Chillicothe Police
Department directly by calling (740) 773-1191 or emailing drugtip@chillicothepolice.com.
