structured wall, comfortably exceeding the recommended building regulations.
In addition to being non-combustible, Decoblock offers high re resistance,
making it ideal for use in compartment or re - break walls (for partition walls or as
a back-up to any type of cladding).
Apart from its traditional use in standard or cavity wall construction, Decoblock
can be used in both load and non-load bearing situations.
A selection of special shapes are available for detailing purposes.

ARCHITECTURAL MASONRY SPECIFICATION
MANUFACTURE:
Decoblock architectural masonry blocks are
manufactured from cementitous materials and
high grade crushed limestone aggregate. The
nely textured nish of the Decoblock range is
due to the most modern computer-controlled
manufacturing process.
PLANT OF MANUFACTURE (POM):
Made at our Fivemiletown Production Plant.
STANDARDS & PERFORMANCE:
Manufactured and tested to category D2 within
BS EN 771-3: 2011 - Class 2 (Length: +1 / -
3mm, Width: +1 / -3mm, Height: + or - 2mm).
All raw materials quarried from our own site fully
comply with the requirements of the appropriate
British Standard.
Air tightness requirements are becoming more
important and must be considered at design
stage. D100 Decoblock with two coats of
emulsion paint has been tested by BSRIA and
has an air leakage of 0.03m3.h-1.m-2

NOTES:
Whatever coating is used, the block surface should be free of dirt,
dust, oil, grease and mortar efflorescence before application of the
paint.
Whilst manufactured to be painted, Decoblock is often left
unpainted. Because the product is produced from natural aggregate,
a blend of tones can be expected. Where possible it is advised to
order from the same production run to avoid the possibility of tone
variations (shading).
We also recommend that products are selected from at least three
bales, within each delivery. This will eliminate 'banding'.
Consultation with the manufacturer of the chosen coating/paint
should be sought before application takes place.
For normal internal use, the use of a two coat vinyl emulsion paint
provides adequate cover without noticeably affecting the block
texture.
Cement based paints provide better sound reduction properties as
they close the pores on the surface of each block.
Like all quality concrete products with a high cement content,
Alphacrete masonry units can display the effects of efflorescence.
Sometimes known as white bloom, this naturally occurring
phenomenon will disappear over time and does not effect the
structural integrity of the blocks.
Care should be taken when handling Alphacrete masonry units.
During transport and delivery some chipping (up to 5%) can be
expected. These can be used for cuts and detailing.
All faces can be exposed excluding the top and bottom of the unit.
