Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, secured its place in history

Thursday as the largest U.S.-listed initial public offering of all time.

The IPO deal raised $21.8 billion, the largest ever for a company listed on

an American exchange. In any deal like this, the investment banks that

help make it happen have the option to purchase additional shares. If you

include all of those shares, the IPO would raise $25 billion -- a world

record.
Maybe you have never heard of Alibaba before IPO ,but Alibaba is a very

very big company in our country.

Alibaba's headquarter is located in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

Alibaba. Alibaba dominate in e-commerce in China, which has a fast

growing middle class.

The value of all the merchandise changing hands on Alibaba's platform

totaled $248 billion in 2013, according to estimates by IDC.

That's greater than the gross merchandise volume of Amazon.com,

eBay, JD.com (JD) and Japanese e-commerce

company Rakuten (RKUNF)-- combined.

Alibaba, which was founded by former English teacher Jack Ma, is now

one of the biggest tech companies in the world.

Jack Mas Chinese name is called Ma Yun

This guy looks like extraterrestrial being ,most people think he is

Taobao, Alibaba Cloud Computing and China Yahoo!.

Accomplishments

In 2001, Ma was selected by the World Economic Forum as a

Young Global Leader. In 2004, he was chosen by China Central

Television and its viewers as one of the Top 10 Business Leaders

of the Year.

In 2005, Ma was named one of the 25 Most Powerful

Businesspeople in Asiaby Fortune.

He was selected by Businessweek as a Businessperson of the

Year in 2007 and one of the 30 Worlds Best CEOs by

Barrons in 2008.

In May 2009, Ma was honored by Time magazine with inclusion into

the Time 100 list of the worlds 100 most influential people. In

reporting Mr. Mas accomplishments, Adi Ignatius, former Time

senior editor and editor-in-chief of the Harvard Business Review,

said, Meeting Jack Ma, you might be forgiven for thinking he's still

an English teacher. The Chinese Internet entrepreneur is

soft-spoken and elflike and he speaks really good English.

Ma is a board member of Japans SoftBank and Chinas Huayi

Brothers Media Corporation.

He became a trustee of The Nature Conservancys China program

in 2009 and joined its global board of directors in April 2010. Jack

Ma is the first Chinese citizen to serve on The Nature

Conservancys board.
In 2014

Alibaba Group has reportedly sold additional shares of the company,

making the listing of the Chinese e-commerce firm the biggest in history.
