THE PRISONER OF ZENDA

This history is told in first person, the principal character is Rudolf Rassendyll, this
man tell his history about his family and his adventures in the fictional Europe.
Chapter1:
Rudolf Rassendyll is an English gentleman, he is a tall and strong man, and he has
red hair, red beard and a long thin nose. The Rassendyll family was a rich English
family but there is a scandal about them.
Rudolf Rassendyll wasnt a Rassendyll, he was a relative of the royal family of
Ruritania, the Elpherg family.
Chapter 2:
In one summer Rudolf stayed in his brothers house, his sister in law told him to get
a job but he didnt want a job, he wanted to travel to Europe. He read the
newspaper, there was a notice about Ruritania, the coronation of a new King for
Ruritania, Prince Rudolf was going to be King Rudolf V. Rudolf Rassendyll decided to
vistit Ruritania to see the coronation in the capital city, Strelsau. But he didnt tell his
plan to his sister in law, he told her that he would go to Germany to see some
friends, she told him to write a book about his adventures.
Chapter 3:
He arrived in Paris, he stayed with two friends, two weeks later he took the train to
Dresden and the next day he took the train to Strelsau but all the hotels of Strelsau
was full because the coronation was going to happen a few days later, so, he stayed
in a inn on Zenda, this is a small town near Strelsau. There was an old clastle on the
top of a hill. This castle belongs to Duke Michael, the half-brother of Prince Rudolf.
In the inn Rudolf met with a Michaels servant, he was in love with the innkeepers
daughter.
Chapter 4.
Rudolf went to walk around Zenda, He went close to the castle and then he walked
in Zenda forest, he sat in a tree and he fell asleep, when he woke up two men was
close to him, these men was Colonel Sapt and Fritz Tarlenhei, then, another man
came, this man was Prince Rudolf. The prince looked him, they look extremely alike,
and the prince discovered that they were cousins.
Then, they had a meal together on the night before the coronation, they were in the
hunting lodge. Prince Rudolf drank a lot of wine.
Chapter 5:
This wine had drugs, Michael black poisoned the wine, he wanted kill to his brother,
he wanted the throne for himself.
The next day Prince Rudolf was lying on the floor, Sapt and Fritz didnt could wake
him and that day was the prince coronation.
They decided take to Rudolf to Strelsau, he had to be the king for that day until the
real king wakes. Sapt shaved the Rudolfs red beard and gave him a king uniform.

Chapter 6:
They went to Strelsaus cathedral, the bishop put the heavy gold crown on the head
of Rudolf, the real king was in the hunting lodge.
After the coronation he met to princess Flavia, he liked the princess very much.
Then, colonel Sapt took him to the kings bedroom, they had to return to Zenda
forest.
They arrived at hunting lodge after midnight but they didnt found the King, The Six
took him away. The six were Michaels friends, they were bad men, they were
criminals.
Chapter 7:
Sapt and Rudolf came back to Strelsau, Rudolf had to be the King again. Rudolf met
to princess Flavia, he asked her to marry him, but she didnt answer his question
and she went out. Rudolf loved Princess Flavia.
Rudolf received a letter from Antoinette de Mauban, she was Michaels French
mistress, the letter sayed that he had to go to the summer house at midnight.
Rudolf decided go, but it was a trap, Antoinette didnt write the letter, Michael Black
wrote it. Three of the six tried to kill to Rudolf but he managed escape.
The others three was guardian to the King in Zenda castle, he was a prisoner.
Chapter 8:
The next day, Rudolf, Sapt and Fritz decided go to rescue the King, they went to
Fritzs house in Zenda with the Royal Guard. Rudolf had a plan, he went to the inn
and talked with the innkeepers daughter to meet with Johann, Michaels servant. No
one had to know about Rudolfs visit.
Chapter 9:
The next day in the morning one of the six, Rupert Hentzau, visited Rudolf in Fritzs
house to deliver a message from Michael. At the end of the metting Hentzau tried to
kill him, but he didnt could and rode away.
In the evening Johann falls in to Rudolfs trap, and Johann told him about the Duke
Michaels plans. He decided help Rudolf to rescue the King, Madame de Mauban
would helped too.
Chapter 10:
The next day at night, Sapt, Fritz and the Royal Guard went in to the forest with their
horses. Rudolf went to Zenda castle alone, he swan across the moat and walked
along the legde.
Chapter 11:
It was midnight, he found a small door. Johann was waiting for him. He took him into
the castle. The Kings cell was on the below floor. There were three men guarding
the King and a doctor. The king was sick.
He murdered one of the three with a knife, then he took the deads man sword. He
fought with the other guard man, he wasnt a good fighter, Rudolf killed him quickly.
He opened the cell, the other guard man was inside. The man killed the doctor. The
king was lying on a bed in a corner.
They started to fight, then the king hit the man with a chair. Rudolf killed the man
with the sword.
Johann had opened the gate, Sapt and the Royal Guard was fighting with Duke
Michaels men. Hentzau was fighting with Black Michael, Henzaut killed Black
Michael.
After the fight, Princess Flavia came to the castle, she discovered the truth about the
King and Rudolf, She was grateful with Rudolf, They loved each other.
Chapter 12:
At last, they left Zenda castle. Rudolf returned to London. King Rudolf and Princes
Flavia got marry. Rudolf was sad.
Many years passed, Rudolf met Fritz every year. Fritz gave him a letter and a white
rose from Flavia. Rudolf also met with his brother, but he didnt go to his brothers
house, Rose was angry with him because he didnt get a job but he wrote a book,
The prisoner of Zenda.
