Compare the Major Systems

of the Human Body

By: Evan & Drew
Digestive System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to handle and break down food.

Organs in the system:

Tongue Stomach Small intestines

Mouth Liver Rectum
Pharynx Gallbladder Anus
Esophagus Pancreas
Large intestines
Interesting fact:
The esophagus is approximately 25cm long.
Muscles contract in waves to move the food down the esophagus.
Circulatory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to carry oxygen and wastes

throughout the body.

Organs in the system:

Heart
Blood vessels
Blood

Interesting fact:

Within a tiny droplet of blood, there are some 5 million red blood cells.
Respiratory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to take oxygen from the air that
you breath.

Organs in the system:

Lungs
Trachea
Nose and Mouth

Interesting fact:Hairs in the nose help to clean the air we breathe as

well as warming it.
Nervous System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to control all the other body

systems

Organs in the system:

Brain
Spinal Cord
Nerves

Interesting fact:There are millions of nerve cells in the human body.

Skeletal System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to give shape and protection to the

human body and to make blood cells for the body .

Organs in the system:

Cranium
Ribs
Bones

Interesting fact:The longest bone in the body is the femur.

Muscular System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to pull the bones to produce

movement

Organs in the system:

Ligament
Tendons
Muscles

Interesting fact:Muscles make up 40% of your total body weight.

How do the systems work together to maintain the
health and fitness of the human body?
Provide at least 3 detailed examples of how the body systems work together.

1. The muscular and skeletal systems work together by the muscles making the
bones move and the skeletal systems giving the muscles something to attach
to.
2. The circulatory and the respiratory systems work together by the respiratory
system taking in oxygen into the lungs then the circulatory takes that oxygen
and then the heart pump sit all through the body in blood cells
3. The nervous and sensory system work together by the sensory system
