The pile section at the depth of fixity has been checked for combined vertical load and moment
as the design moment in pile are maximum at this section.

The pile section has been checked for both maximum vertical load with corresponding moment and
minimum vertical load with maximum moment.

3.2.3.2.4 Calculation of Minimum Reinforcement

As per Cl 5.11.1 of IS:2911(PartI/Sec1) the minimum reinforcement in pile shall be 0.4% of cross-sectional are
Dia of pile = 1.00 m

3.2.3.2.5 Design of pile cap

Pile Cap has been designed by bending theory. The bending moment is calculated at the face of the column
Section A-A and Section B-B are considered for the design.

Lever arm about A-A = 2.25 m =3.0/2-1.5/2

Lever arm about B-B = 1.5 m =4.5-3.0/2

Weight of pile cap = 36 kN/m2

Weight of soil above pile cap = 9 kN/m2
Total udl = 45 kN/m2
Bending moment about A-A = 113.9 kNm/m
Bending moment about B-B = 50.6 kNm/m

Calculation of Minimum Reinforcement

As per Cl 5.11.1 of IS:2911(PartI/Sec1) the minimum reinforcement in pile shall be 0.4% of cross-sectional area.
Dia of pile = 1.00 m
1.27 Area of cross section = 0.785 m^2
Minimum Reinf. = 3141.6 cm2

Provide Y20 - 14 nos

Ast= 4396.00
% of steel provided = 0.56 %
Provide 8 dia. @ 150 mm c/c ties

Design of pile cap

Pile Cap has been designed by bending theory. The bending moment is calculated at the face of the column
Section A-A and Section B-B are considered for the design.

Lever arm about A-A = 0.75 m =3.0/2-1.5/2

Lever arm about B-B = 1.5 m =3.0-3.0/2
1.27.1
Weight of pile cap = 36 kN/m2
Weight of soil above pile cap = 9.75 kN/m2
Total udl = 45.75 kN/m2
Bending moment about A-A = 12.9 kNm/m
Bending moment about B-B = 51.5 kNm/m

3.2.3.2.2 Calculation of depth of fixity and maximum moment in pile

The depth of fixity and bending moments in the pile have been worked out as per
IS 2911 Part 1/ sec1 Appendix C (clause 5.5.2).

fck = Grade of concrete = M 35
E= 2
Youngs Modulus of the concrete in kg/cm (IRC 21:2000 Table-9)
I= Moment of Inertia of the pile cross section in cm 4
K2 = Modulus of subgrade reaction as per Table 3

The pile section at the depth of fixity has been checked for combined vertical load and moment
as the design moment in pile are maximum at this section.

The pile section has been checked for both maximum vertical load with corresponding moment and
minimum vertical load with maximum moment.

3.2.3.2.4 Calculation of Minimum Reinforcement

As per Cl 5.11.1 of IS:2911(PartI/Sec1) the minimum reinforcement in pile shall be 0.4% of cross-sectional are
Dia of pile = 1.00 m
Area of cross section = 0.785 m^2
Minimum Reinf. To be provided = 3141.6 mm2
Reinforcement provided = 13746.3 mm2
Provide 10 dia. @ 180 mm c/c lateral ties

3.2.3.2.5 Design of pile cap

Pile Cap has been designed by bending theory. The bending moment is calculated at the face of the column
Section A-A and Section B-B are considered for the design.

Lever arm about A-A = 2.25 m =3.0/2-1.5/2

Lever arm about B-B = 1.5 m =4.5-3.0/2

Weight of pile cap = 36 kN/m2

Weight of soil above pile cap = 9 kN/m2
Total udl = 45 kN/m2
Bending moment about A-A = 113.9 kNm/m
Bending moment about B-B = 50.6 kNm/m
