Dear Parents,
Hope everyone had a wonderful relaxing weekend. Below are some of the things we will be doing this
week. Lets have fun learning :)

Literacy Inquiry:
We are reading great books: Rainbow Fish, Fifi Ferrets flute and Flip and Flop.
We are identifying what we mean by The characters and the setting in a story, and continuing
to review what is a front cover page, back cover page and title page and the role of the author and
illustrator.
We are discussing how illustrations help in predicting the story, through activities like : picture
walks and using the title page and front cover of a book to predict the story.
- Craft: Creating our own Rainbow fish and painting a fish collage.

Math Inquiry:
-We will continue learning about different 3D shapes (cube, sphere and cone)
-We will be reviewing duplicating and extending simple patterns using concrete objects.
-Activities include: creating Monsters using shapes.

Unit of Inquiry:
UOI 4: How we Express ourselves.
Central idea: Ideas and feelings can be reflected creatively through artistic expression.
Learner Profile: This unit we will be focusing on being Reflective and Open-Minded".
Activities include : Discussing What is Art and clearing misconceptions the kids have
that Art is only coloring, drawing and painting.

Home Connection: Please read daily with your child . Ask your child about what he/she liked about the story
you read together. Ask your child to show you the front cover, back cover and title page in a book. Talk to the
kids about Art and how we use art in our lives.
