libraries. It is middleware that authenticates library users against local authentication systems and
provides remote access to licensed content based on the users authorization. EZproxy is an easy to

It connects to a wide variety of authentication services (including LDAP, SIP, Athens and
Shibboleth) which reduces the number of authorizations/passwords and provides a better
end-user experience
An easy to setup and easy to maintain program

Features
EZproxy works by dynamically altering the URLs within the Web pages provided by your database
vendor. The server names within the URLs of these Web pages are changed to reflect your EZproxy
server instead, causing your users to return to the EZproxy server as they access links on these Web
pages. The result is a seamless access environment for your users without the need for automatic
proxy configuration files. EZproxy only alters references to your database vendors' Web pages, so if
your database vendor provides additional links to other free Web pages on the Internet, these are
left as-is. In this manner, if your users elect to follow one of these links, the EZproxy server is
automatically taken out of the communication loop.

EZproxy maintains a standard Web server log file of usage. Using standard Web log analysis tools,
you can evaluate which databases are being used remotely and use these statistics to help justify
your budget requests for database licensing.

Hardware and Operating System Requirements

EZproxy for Windows

EZproxy runs on Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows XP. For Windows
NT 4.0, service pack 4 or later is required and both Workstation and Server are supported. All
versions of Windows 2000 and Windows 2003 are supported, as is Windows XP Professional.

The minimum recommended configuration for an EZproxy for Windows server is a Pentium II 400
with 256 MB of RAM. 10 MB of disk space is required for installation. Additional disk space is
required to accommodate user authentication files and server log files.

The bandwidth requirements would depend on the number of simultaneous users.

Terms and Conditions for supply of EZproxy:

First year price includes off-site (through remote access) Installation support.

Installation of EZproxy requires certain ports to be opened, which needs to be ensured by the
network administrator.

Alternatively the proxy by hostname configuration requires certain entries in the DNS
server which should be ensured by the network administrator.
Subscription is for 12(twelve) months and start from the 1st day of the month of supply,
irrespective of the date of supply during the month.
Access details to download the software would be provided by the Publisher directly to you,
within 14 days after the receipt of confirmed order and payment.
Software is allowed to install on only one Server of Licensee (single installation).
Travel and Stay costs for on-site installation are to be borne by the institute.
Subsequent years price includes annual subscription to EZ Proxy and AMC support
(telephonic and web).
The above prices are inclusive of taxes and duties.
100% payment to be made in advance.
The above price includes the cost of license for EZproxy for the first year, subsequently
renewal cost would be charged as applicable at that time.
You need to sign license agreement with the publisher before the access details is given.
