Writing:
subtraction calculations in number sentences
Start subtraction to 5 using counting back and
take away.
Learning that stories have characters and
settings.
Learning that each story has beginning, middle
and end.
Adding names to our stories.
Adding words to pictures.
Begin to use environmental print and writing
tools (the alphabet chart, word wall, etc)

Review letter sounds and letter names (l, f, b)

Practice writing upper and lowercase letters (Ll, Ff,Bb).
Review and read sentences with sight words (my, me, big, come)
Read word family en such as (hen, men, ten, pen, etc.)
Read word family ed such as (bed, red, shed, fed, etc.)
Blending words with learnt letters.

Explore how human senses enable humans and

animals to be aware of the world around them
Use simple fieldwork and observational skills to (Animal Senses)
study the geography of their school and physical
features of its surrounding environment. (Map of
our school, marking our building and labelling areas)

Read with your child 15 minutes
daily
Review Sight Words with your child
and help them put the words in
sentences.
You will find new reading words in
the reading folder; these words are
to help your child start reading
levelled books.
Please note that the words will stay the same till your
child knows them by sight. He/she will get reading book
and the next set of words.
Please dont push your child to practice writing these
words as they are only for reading.

 Thursday 17th November will be Independent Learner dress up day; your child can dress up as
scientist, researcher or explorer.

Last week we sent a letter about our trip to Dossari Zoo, you are kindly requested to sign the
slip and send back to your childs class teacher by Thursday 17th November, please note that
your child will not be allowed to go on that trip without the signed slip.

You will appreciate that the beginning end of the day are very busy for teachers and Teacher
Assistants. If you would like to discuss your child's academic progress please make and appoint
through the secretaries. This allows us time to be prepared and to ensure that you are given
enough time to share your questions and thoughts.
