Two courses I feel I have excelled in were BIOL 1170 and BIOL 1180; Anatomy and

Physiology I and II. I consider these courses as ones I excelled in because I have always held an

interest in anatomy; how the human body works, its biological functions and make-up, as well

as its adaptability to survive in different environments ranging from scorching, arid deserts to

freezing, mountainous regions.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time in these courses, I found the teachers to be very

entertaining and easily held my attention in how they taught the class. There never was a dull

moment, as the teachers made an effort to engage us with activities, games, and encouraged

asking questions. What really enhanced my learning in the course, was when one of the teachers

brought in human bones for us to examine and see for ourselves where certain bones were

instead of looking at them on a chart or diagram. Overall, I really enjoyed taking these courses,

and if I could do them over again, I would, and I think it would be safe to say that other students

also enjoyed these classes.

What really stood out to me was the chapter on the skeletal system, specifically the bones

of the skull and types of fractures. I remember these because the main focus of our work in

dental hygiene surrounds the head and neck, and knowing the bones of these areas is incredibly

helpful. Taking radiographs lets say a panoramic I can use the knowledge I gained to

identify different structures, such as the zygomatic bone or maxillary sinuses.

Even up to now, what I have learned is applicable in clinic, as my clients sometimes

present with conditions like rheumatoid arthritis. And because of my time in A&P, I know, and

understand, what RA entails, and I can offer and make the appropriate accommodations for my

client.
