5) No late submission.

Question 1: [4 Marks]
A square wave of 115KHz is to be generated using any counter on 8254. 8254 is required to be interfaced with
8088 CPU at 9CH and above. Clock signal of 8254 is running at 500KHz. You are required to provide:
a) Counter used in your design
b) Mode in which counter is configured
c) Initializing value of counter
d) Schematics of interfacing timer with CPU
e) Assembly language program that generates the required waveform

Question 2: [4 Marks]
An 8254 timer is interfaced with 8088 CPU from 50H and above. Timer is clocked at 1MHz and a 100KHz
square wave is required at its OUT1 pin. Write a piece of 8088 assembly language program that fulfils the
desired task.
Question 3: [4 Marks]
Interface 6 KB RAM with 8088
1) Draw complete schematic diagram, you need to draw each and every pin. E-g: In case of connecting
Data bus, you need to connect 8 lines from 8088 to memory block. Same rule will be applied while
connecting Address bus as well
2) Determine starting and ending address for each memory chip. The memory is mapped at address
D8000H
Question 4: [8 Marks]
Interface 1MB ROM with 8088 using 64k8 memory chips.
1) Draw complete schematic diagram with Read, Write and IO/M signals
2) Use 74LS138 for Address Decoding
3) Determine the memory map of each memory chip
