Introduction
Thevaluesandattitudeswelivebyaffecthowwerelatetootherpeopleandtoallouractivitiesintheenvironment,andsoareamajor
influenceonourprospectsforachievingasustainablefuture.

Althoughtheycannotbeseparatedfromcognitiveunderstanding,valuesandattitudesrelatetotheaffective(oremotional)dimensionof
humanbehaviour.Whilevaluesandattitudesaresimilarinthisregard,theydifferinseveralimportantways.

Valuesaregenerallylongtermstandardsorprinciplesthatareusedtojudgetheworthofanideaoraction.Theyprovidethecriteria
bywhichwedecidewhethersomethingisgoodorbad,rightorwrong.
Attitudespredisposeustorespondinparticularwaystopeopleandevents.Theyarenotsodeeplyfeltasvaluesandquiteoften
changeasaresultofexperience.

Thismoduleprovidesanopportunitytoconsidertheimportanceofhumanvaluesandattitudesinshapingthefuture.Italsoprovidesideas
andexamplesfortwocategoriesofstrategiesforexploringvaluesintheclassroomvaluesclarificationandvaluesanalysis.
