Application of SKS accommodates the needs of learners in accordance with the interests and
talents. This is in accordance with Bali Mandara vocational high school status as a Special Ser-
vices School for students in Bali who have high potential to advance and come from families
of middle to low economy condition.
By applying semester credit system, students with special intelligence can complete their
high school education quicker (2 years) because they are able to take more subjects credit
among subjects available. While students with special talents, can adjust interest in talent
development in a balanced way with the development of the academic field. In this case, they
can finish high school education over a longer period of time (maximum 5 years).
Like the application of semester credit system in higher education (university), the students
are independently and responsible in planning and managing their high school education
needs to be taken. In this case, the school accommodates guidance for each student through
Academic Advisors (PA), which is accommodated by the teachers of Bali Mandara vocational
high school as well as fosters parents of the students. PA will provide a process of discussion
and planning studies in filling up Study Plan Card (KRS) and conduct the evaluation guidance
in Study Result Card (KHS).
Bali Mandara Vocational High School applies intensive communication in three different lan-
guages, namely Bahasa Indonesia as the national language, English as an international lan-
guage, and Basa Bali as the native language of Bali. It is based on the awareness that the
possession of good communication skills will have a significant influence for the development
and success of a person.
One method that is applied in Bali Mandara Vocational High School for the intensive use of
the three different languages in students daily activity is called Students Morning Speech
program. This activity is conducted 30 minutes before the school hours begin. The purpose
of the Students Morning Speech program is to familiarize students in giving simple speech
with free theme by using three different languages in front of the school community.
Students of Bali Mandara vocational high school each day dedicate 360 minutes to follow the
school formal learning process. The learning process conducted not only in the classroom,
but also outside the classroom as in laboratory, workshops, and in open nature. This is sup-
ported by the moving class system that allows students not only to learn in one particular
class room, but also to move to another room in accordance with the conditions of learning
and learning needs. In fact, the learning process can also be done at night from 19:00 to 21:00
oclock as a form of implementation of the previous evening classes, which are flexibly coordi-
nated between subject teachers concerned with students in the classroom. All matters relat-
ing to the learning process have been planned and organized very well by the academic team.

STUDENT RECRUITMENT
There are four main requirements for each applicant (as we see from the
table). Applicant also has to go through three main phases of students
admission process (PPDB) of Bali Mandara Vocational High School, i.e.
Paper Based, Home Visit, and Boot Camp.
Students of Bali Mandara Vocational High School come from a family of low economyic con-
dition but have the potential to advance. They deserve to get a qualified education that can
help them to change their economic conditions, contributing to society, and become a better
generation.
Home Visit stage aims to adjust and ensure the correctness of data and information contained
in the applicants admission documents (in Paper Based stage). The ommittee of Students ad-
mission process (PPDB) of Bali Mandara Vocational High School will visit all applicants house
for direct observation. Its intention is to ensure that the educational funding will go to the
right person.
Bali Mandara Vocational High School held sisya Upanayana sacred ritual as a first step that
is sacred and important for the purpose of creating the expected generation. A ritual based
on Hindu concept that is implemented for new students before starting school activities.
Bali Mandara Vocational High School held the sisya Upanayana sacred ceremony for the
first time on July 30, 2015. The holy ritual performed as a sign of self-learners approval of
new spiritual (noetic) to cleanse them of bad habits. Through sisya Upanaya ritual, the new
students are expected to go through the process of learning at the school for three years
ahead smoothly on the basis of the ideology of Pancasila and the indigenous wisdom of Bali,
such as Tri Hita Karana and Tri Kaya Parisuda to be capable of maintaining the harmony of life
to God, fellow human beings and the environment and be able to think wisely (Manacika),
speak good words (Wacika), and behave well to others (Kayika).
The Calling is the final ritual within the Students Orientation Activities (MOPDB). The main
objective of The Calling is to reiterate and emphasize that these students had answered their
first Calling, i.e. to change their future to be better by studying in Bali Mandara Senior and
Vocational high School (BALI Academy). In addition, this ritual aims to make the students real-
ize about their true calling. Students can set goals and his future by understanding the ability,
ambition, and their potential respectively.
The Calling consists of Time Capsule and Bonfire. In the Time Capsule, new students write
their dreams and ideals on a piece of paper and put into a small bottle which will be stored
securely in a locked crate and was called The Calling Chest. The key to the crate is just held
by the Principal and will be opened in the next 3 years after they finish their education in Bali
Mandara Vocational High School. The time capsule is only read by themselves and serve as a
reminder of their True Calling.
The next event is a bonfire. In this event, students sit around the bonfire and write their chal-
lenges, obstacles, and the biggest fear in achieving their dreams on plywood blade, called the
Barrier Board. One by one, then put their Barrier Board on bricks (with the writing facing up)
and said I can Because I believe I can. Then, the students broke their board with their hand
as a symbol of beating their obstacle in achieving their dream.
Inaugural become one of the largest ceremonial activities held annually, usually after stu-
dents orientation activity (MOPDB). The aim of this activity is to certify new students offi-
cially as part of Bali Mandara Vocational High School family, where ratification is done by the
governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika.
Bali Mandara Vocational High School held the inaugural ceremony for the first time on August
20th, 2015 together with the inaugural ceremony of Bali Mandara Senior High School, consid-
ering both schools are located in the same area.
There are several main agenda and spectacular performances from students of Bali Mandara
senior and Vocational High School during the inaugural ceremony. The most important event
is when embedding pin and formal inauguration by the Governor of Bali. They then sang
three Bali Academy songs, namely Mars SMA and SMK Bali Mandara, Spread Our Wings, as
well as a song written by Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika, entitled Miskin dan Dosa .
In this session, new students were excited and passionately sang the songs, very enthusias-
tic while wallowing in tears. Afterwards, they gave a rose to their parents who were present
at the time, gave a hug happiness accompanied by tears. Students thanked for the parents
prayers, love, and blessings for their future study in Bali Mandara Senior and Vocational High
School.
The final part of inaugural ceremony was Departure activities. In this section, there were an
open house and introduction among parents of the new students with the foster parents
(commonly referred to as pita and mata) who are teachers at Bali Mandara Senior and Voca-
tional High School. Furthermore, in this event, parents handed over tree crop pita and mata.
Those crops became a symbol of hope from parents and new students for a better future,
where new students are required to take care and ensure that the tree will flourish as long as
they are studying in Bali Mandara Senior and Vocational High School.

leadership, as well as outbound activities and related competitions.

The above sentence is a verse of the lyrics in Spread Our Wings song. A sentence that repre-
sents the beliefs and paradigms of Bali Mandara Vocational High School about loving others is
a precious gift. That giving will not reduce what we have, rather enrich our identity as human
beings endowed with conscience and compassion.

member to forget to share to each other, inside and outside the school. In this case, the
school has designed the Kindness Campaign program once a month. A team of students, ac-
companied by teachers and staff will visit the community to undertake a charitable and public
service program. They visit schools and teach children in early childhood, kindergarten, or
elementary school in a remote area. They also visit orphanages and nursing homes to spread
the love and other positive activities. Sometimes, they conduct hygiene awareness activities
and environmental sustainability, as well as working with some village officials in wide range
