Realizing the tremendous possibilities of Ayurveda in the present

global health scenario, Kerala government has decided to set up a
Global Ayurveda Village.

INTRODUCTION

Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) propose to

set up a Global Ayurveda Village in Trivandrum. The estimated cost of the

project is about 200 crores and the state government has allotted Rs five crores to

kick start the project and KINFRA is the nodal agency for the project. This

proposal is based on the vision of globalizing the traditional ayurvedic

knowledge of Kerala to the world at large. The project proposal envisages to

present a fully equipped ayurvedic treatment centre to which people from

around the World will be attracted for availing the traditional system of

ayurvedic treatment, supported and supplemented by modern scientific

methods, making use of the expertise of eminent doctors in ayurveda. The

concept is based on incorporating the amenities of most modern scientific

developments in all aspects of treatment with classical ayurveda.

The Global Ayurveda Village is unique in that it is the first of its kind in

Ayurvedic health tourism from the government sector.

PROJECT PROPONENT

Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) Kerala

LOCATION OF SITE

KINFRA has identified an area near Varkala, Trivandrum with one and a half

kilometer backwater frontage as the proposed location of the Global Ayurveda

Centre/ Village.

Access: Via Varkala Edava Kappil Road

Approximately 63 kms from Trivandrum International Airport

Site Extent : 63 Acres Flat Site 2,54,952 sq.m

PROJECT AIM:

1. To generate public awareness about the potential of Ayurveda for enhancing

health security of rural communities including disease prevention and health
promotion.

2. To utilize the medicinal plants in the region and to encourage their

sustainable commercial exploitation.

3. To provide specialty medical care to the people.

4. A natural setting with perfect energy conservation and management

techniques.

OBJECTIVES:

1. Clusters of healing spaces - Its clusters will have a maximum of twelve

rooms under one Physician, thus ensuring a stress-free ambience of being,
for the healer as well as the patient.

2. Environment-friendly in utilizing concepts of renewable energy, as solar

energy, wind energy, bio-mass, waste water recycling and management; as
also in its construction with a minimum of cement and steel, and more

 of natural products. It will thus have minimum pollutants in the campus, thus
maintaining the air & ambience, pure and healthy.

3. It will be self-sufficient.

4. It will house all facilities for making classical medicines and for catering
with the most refreshing Ayurvedic food.

5. It will offer personalized care to the patient, thus making the healing
process, more pleasant.

A wellness centre specialising in diabetes, immunity clinic and proctology centre

will be established in the village. A tie -up will be made with all the agricultural

universities and other related organisations in the country for sharing the most
modern techniques in medicinal plant cultivation.
