MTech Thesis Topics- 2017 (Prof.

AB Patki)

Dt. 25th January 2017

1. Approximate Computing: Approximate computing is the idea that

computer systems can let applications trade off accuracy for efficiency. It
includes any technique where the system intentionally exposes incorrectness
to the application layer in return for conserving some resource. Techniques
for implementing approximations at Architecture level, (Functional units,
memory), relaxed fault tolerance. In software probabilistic programming
language. Both Hardware ( architecture) and / or software focus can be
accommodated depending on students background.

2. Chaotic Cryptography: Development of Chaotic cryptographic primitives

(mathematical) - Study of chaotic cryptography and software library
development. Study of Non-linear dynamics and application for cryptology.
Familiarity Multi-algorithmic cryptography using deterministic chaos.
Mostly software development work (Asymptotic behavior of iterative
processes)

3. Multi-Constrained Optimization for OS Scheduling: OS scheduling

algorithms and Study of optimization using Machine learning techniques.
Machine learning pre-requisite with some background in programming.

4. IoT analytics: Data analytics for IoT (R/Python based) Time-Stamped /

columnar data bases, Time series data analysis for IoT data- software
development.

5. Non-linear modeling of Computer system performance: The models used

in the computer systems community are linear though these are non linear
systems. Study involves in ear and nonlinear models of the processor load of
computer as it executes a range of different programs. In IoT environment it
is necessary to predict the processor loads forward in time and compare
those forecasts to the true continuations of the time series.

6. Cellular automata based smart cities (applications like parking) : Agent

based modeling using Cellular automata for IoT enabled smart cities
applications. Study of Agent Based Modeling software like NetLogo and
familiarity with Cellular automata. Primarily software based activity leading
to realization of hardware IP core.
