Here we are submitting the attached proposal to print a yearbook for Management Sciences
Department. This report gives the recommendations regarding importance and need of year
book.

Although the department is progressing well, but the information gathered through our research
shows that printing a year book is necessary for creating awareness regarding department
successes among people.

Executive Summary

This proposal is about to print a yearbook for Department of Management

Sciences. This proposal is focused on the need of printing yearbook for this
department. In this proposal we also discussed the benefits and uses of yearbook.
And how it can be beneficial not for only current students but the same students
after 5 or 10 years or more. Moreover it is also discussed that why traditional
yearbook is more preferable than social media or internet. However
recommendations are also provided at the end of report in order to suggest that
yearbook should be printed for Management Sciences Department.

Introduction

This report describes the importance and use of printing year book for the educational
departments. As we all know year book is a book filled with photos of students and activities, it
is important to remember the yearbook is the only historical document that tells the story of the
educational year. As a lot of foreign educational institutes issue their yearbooks but this trend is
not common in Pakistani institutes. No doubt the use and importance of yearbook cannot be
negligible, so we request that if university is not issuing year book so at least our department,
faculty of management sciences should issue its year book.

Purpose of report

The basic purpose of writing this report is that it was assigned in our Business communication
class and also to present you the answers for following questions that:
Why it is important to issue yearbook for the management sciences department?
What benefits students, faculty, department and other people will get from it?
How can anyone use yearbook for various purposes?

Methods and procedures used

Primary research is done by interviewing several students of management sciences department of

International Islamic University Islamabad. Interviewees were asked a set of questions regarding
the importance and need of yearbook for them.

Need of Yearbook

As we all know that The Faculty of Management Sciences was established in 1995. The
Department of Business Administration the first to be established launched its MBA program in
January 1996. The Department of Technology Management was set up in 1998. The Faculty is
now the largest faculty of the University with around 3700 registered students. So it is necessary
to keep in touch all these students as well as faculty members and outsiders about the various
activities performed in Management Department of this university.

Moreover not all students attend all the activities that are being held in the department so by
issuing yearbook we help those students to get through the detailed information with
photographs regarding various seminars and other activities that are held by or for students.
Many yearbooks contain data regarding the interests of students. Many students have hidden
talents like writing articles so you can motivate your students by publishing their best articles in
your department yearbook. Many of your students performed quite well in sports and other
activities but no one know about them, so by pasting their photographs in yearbook and detail
about their achievements you will not only motivate those students but also encourage other
students to participate in various activities.

No doubt, social media replaced most of things of our lives but still you cant see same things by
scrolling social media, and that is why issuing and printing year book is important and necessity
too. The use of year book will never go out of style and it will be treated same, no matter how
old their users grow. Importance of year book will always remain same that can never be
replaced anywhere else. You cant realize that how valuable the year book is and will be in the
Future, but the moment when you will open yearbook later in future, a flood of memories will
come in your mind.
Uses of year book

Yearbook is also known as historic book or memory book which includes photographs of
students, and information regarding sport activities, contests and other activities. We can include
information regarding various activities held by students like activity trips, sports activities held
by our department students, other special events held by students and achievements made by our
department students.
Complete data regarding various seminars and other activities held in department can be saved at
one place sequentially, so whenever, whoever want to get through the details about the activities
held by your department can simply get know by viewing your yearbook. Moreover students can
join yearbook committee and show their interests there and hence they got confidence. Your
department Yearbook will provide them a platform through which they can explore their hidden
talents like most of students are good in writing so they can write a useful article regarding
business world and help other students to get knowledge.

Benefits of Yearbook

Most universities have some form of a yearbook. Much effort and funding goes into the process
of making the yearbook. This is because it benefits the university, students, staff members and
outsiders in multiple ways.

University Pride:

Yearbooks promote a sense of university pride and unity. The cover and pages of the book often
are covered in school colors, emblems and mottoes, serving to remind students, teachers and staff
members of a shared purpose.

Student Pride:

Students can take great pride in seeing themselves in a yearbook. Many yearbooks feature
sections devoted to student accomplishments in athletics, academics and community service.

Alumni Relations:

Yearbooks are popular items to keep as people age. Looking back at past university years is a
pleasant experience for many people, and it can help to promote good relationships between a
university and its alumni.

University Involvement:

Yearbooks are usually the product of a yearbook committee's work. This committee generally is
comprised of students and teachers. This type of project promotes positive student and staff
collaboration, and it also gives students valuable experience in journalism, photography and
publishing.

Aid in developing new skills in students:

When the educational experts talk about the skills students will need not only to survive, but
thrive in todays world of work, those skills also are an integral part of producing a great
yearbook creativity and innovation; critical thinking and problem solving; communication and
collaboration; flexibility and adaptability; initiative and self direction; productivity and
accountability; leadership and responsibility.

A book that will last beyond a lifetime:

The yearbook is the only lasting record of the school. If we do not capture it in the book, in just a
few short years it will all be forgotten. But if we do it right and we always make that our goal, we
will capture history and memories that people will go back to and enjoy literally forever.

University can see talents unlocked in their students:

The yearbook process forces students to dig deep and find talents they never knew they had.
Students who have never been leaders before come out of their shells, rise to the challenge and
take responsibility.

Yearbook makes great fundraisers:

Students, parents and outsiders all are interested in the yearbook. By adding few rupees to the
cost of each yearbook, university can instantly create a fundraiser.

Conclusion
This report finds that it is necessary to issue yearbook as it not only provide quick view to past
memories to the old students and also give detailed information regarding various activities held
in the department to the current students, faculty members and to the outsiders too. Moreover it
also helps in motivating and encouraging students by providing them a platform.

Recommendations
As Faculty of Management Sciences is one of the largest departments in our university with
approximately 3700 registered students. And no doubt a lot of seminars, contests and business
programs are held there in which most of students participate. So on the basis of our findings and
conclusion, it is recommended that specially for Management Sciences department yearbook
should be printed, in order to make all the information regarding various activities performed in
the department available to the current, past and future students and also for other people.
