Description of how to implement in the class:
The students should use the information that they gathered in the Instructional Software activity and
use that for the basic productivity tools. First, students can place the states of matter: solids, liquids,
gases, and plasma. They can do this in excel workbook. They can put in B1 solid, B2 liquid, B3 gas, and
B4 plasma. Then, in cells A2 a cold temperature determined in the lab, A3 warm temperature
determined in the lab, and A4 a hot temperature in the lab. Then, in the corresponding spaces they can
write down the distance between the particles. They can then analyze based on the amount of energy
for each given state if there is a change in particle distance or not. They can also see based on the state
of the matter the distance between each particle.
Then, once they have all the data entered into the excel sheet they can graph the information using the
graphing tool within the excel sheet. This will truly allow them to analyze and compare the data that
they have collected. This lesson allows students to achieve Blooms Level of Remembering by asking
students to recall and list the data that they collected during the previous simulation activity. Then,
they understand because they are asked to summarize and demonstrate the data that they collected.
Students are applying by manipulating/designing their data and putting it into the context of a graph.
Then, students are able to analyze the data by identifying and recognizing patterns and trends within
their data.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): I would classify this learning experience as a LoTi level
three. This is because the students are thinking on higher levels. Students are asked to think on a
higher level while completing a teacher directed task. There is also a strong focus on content and
process from the data that the students gathered.
Description of the sample spreadsheet and graph/chart provided *: This data does not come from
experimentation. It is simply an example of what a students spreadsheet and graph would look like
once they enter the data.
