Learning Experience: Numeracy Counting with Blocks
I am organizing a child-directed learning experiment in which children
will have the opportunity to explore the counting blocks provided. I
would like to provide them with a mathematic experience where the
can practice their cardinal numbers and ordinal number skills.
Objectives:
The children will further develop the skill of:
1. (4.13) counting to determine quantity
2. (4.14) moving objects to align them when comparing quantities
Materials:
Variation of counting blocks (different colours)
Flashcards with numbers on them
Implementation:
1. The blocks and flashcards will be set up on the table
2. Using environmental cues the children will get the chance to
read the flashcards as well as match the number of counter
blocks to the flashcards provided
Teaching Strategies:
1. Telling, Explaining & Informing
By having the table set up with the numbers at designated areas, this
will allow time for the educator (me) to explain and inform the children
as to why learning math is important. This will ensure will help further
