2017 China Business Challenge Statement

Hosted by the China Entrepreneurship Network, UM Chapter

The China Business Challenge (CBC) is a six week long pitch competition that
challenges students entrepreneurial skills. Participants propose innovative business
solutions to social, environmental, or economic inefficiencies in the world to a panel of
judges, competing for a grand prize of $1000 and the opportunity to implement their
proposal.

CBC Benefits
All finalists will have the opportunity to network with CBC sponsors, judges, and
mentors, many of whom are entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, or senior executives
All finalists will have their business plans and pitch presentations delivered to
CBC sponsors and partners, which exposes participating ventures to opportunities of
future collaborations with and potential investments from CBC partners
Finalists will also be invited to attend a private pitch workshop with a Ross
Business Communications professor prior to the final round to refine their presentations
All semi-finalists will have the opportunity to participate in a mentorship program
with industry and academia professionals who will provide constructive feedback on your
proposal

CBC Rules
Open to all college (not limited to UM) students with an entrepreneurial idea at
any stage
Teams of 2-6, members can be added or removed at any time
Each team can only submit one business model per round; business model must
demonstrate the viability, efficiency, innovation, and financial sustainability of the venture

CBC Mission Statement: The goal of CENs China Business Challenge is to seek out impact-
driven student entrepreneurial projects in the Midwest, provide a global platform for them to
showcase their talents and innovations, and connect them to capital and resources from China
for potential future collaborations. We also seek to raise awareness on the interconnectedness
of the US and China through challenging the traditional entrepreneurial process.
Our belief is that a better future begins with the long-term, sustainable business
models that originate from CBC.
