Description of how to implement in the class: The teacher will introduce the activity by telling the
students that they will be learning about topographical features, more specifically the 5 main rivers
in the United States and the 2 main mountain ranges in the United States. The students will pull up
Inspiration. They will begin with the tree type layout and the main bubble will have the title
topographical features. Afterwards they will branch off with the rivers and mountains, naming each
of them. The students will then find pictures of each one so they know where it is located and what it
looks like. They will also research each one in order to figure out one fact about each feature. To
help the students remember the rivers easier, there is a high five rivers hand in which each finger
represents a river. They could also come up with their own acronym to remember them as well. (For
example: Chipmunks Ride Motorcycles On Highways.)
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This activity remains at a LoTi level 2; however, it
could be raised to a level 3 if the students will ultimately be allowed to create a concept map on their
own.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: Below is the example web I created in Inspiration
that the students will complete themselves. After the chart is complete, they will write facts about
each topographical feature and then take a quiz on what the 5 main rivers are and 2 main mountain
ranges are.
Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: The web I have used was made from
scratch by myself; however, they also have premade outlines of webs that discuss many other topics
if we wanted to extend the activity by using the software in other areas.
