Requirement:

How to create a Catalog of 2D components using CATIA V5 Drafting Workbench

Solution:

This task explains how to create a Catalog Document for repeated 2D Components,
For example specific symbols, Standard Text etc.

Following steps can be followed to create a Catalog Document.

Step 1:

Open the CATIA V5 Drafting Workbench and Create 2D Component.1 in the detail sheet by using

this icon

Create one more 2D Component.2 by using Insert- Drawing New view. Example below

Save the file name as Catalog.CATDrawing and keep file open in the CATIA session.

Step 2:

Open the Catalog Document Workbench. (File New Catalog Document)

Add one Family by using Chapter Toolbar and change the Family Name as
your wish.

Please select Standard from the Type option and activate the ComponetFamily1 from history tree.

Step 3:

Add the component by using Data toolbar

Add the first 2D component by using Select external feature and selecting the 2D component from the
earlier saved drawing (in this case catalog. CATDrawing). Click OK.
Repeat to add other 2D Component also.

Save the catalog document (as per your requirement).

Step 4( To instantiate):

Open New Drafting workbench and call the Particular catalog document from Catalog Browser

and select (Double Click) the required 2D component in Catalog Browser.

Follow similar steps to create a different catalog files.
