Purpose: To persuade the Downtown Wheaton Association to invest in a mobile app that would
engage the college student demographic.

Thesis: The Downtown Wheaton app will augment the benefits the Downtown Wheaton
Association gives its members by broadening its audience to college students.

I. Introduction
A. The City of Wheaton is a college town that doesnt act like one.
B. DWA Purpose: The Downtown Wheaton Association (DWA) plays a vital role in the
success of downtown Wheaton by supporting the downtown business community, hosting a
variety of events, and encouraging new business development and raising consumer
awareness. The DWA helps to ensure that downtown Wheaton continues to grow and
improve.
C. DWA Mission Statements
1. Announce Events the DWAs growing audience
2. Increase Awareness to businesses target audience
3. Deliver businesses news to more people
4. Keep interested consumers informed
5. Find the right people for businesses
D. College Demographic
1. Businesses are missing out on a large audience.
2. College students are missing out on broader intentional community.

a) Taylor: If I knew more about downtown Wheaton, I would definitely go there
more often on the weekends, I just dont ever know whats going on there
b) Rachel: I love downtown Wheaton, but whenever Im there it seems Ive just
missed all the great events or sales.
c) Kayla: Ive only ever gone to Egglectic. I have no idea whats even there.
E. Thesis: The Downtown Wheaton app will augment the benefits the Downtown Wheaton
Association gives its members by broadening its audience to college students.

II. Conclusion
A. The Downtown Wheaton app will benefit your business members by allowing them to
reach a whole new demographic. Businesses will receive a significant ROI in exposure,
marketing, PR, accessibility, and hiring opportunities.
B. College students will benefit from the app, allowing them to engage more effectively
with the community.
C. Unfortunately, the app only comes on Windows phones. Just kidding!
