There is a grey background
which will be used to situate

in the brain. The grey matter
of the brain contains things
like memory and self-control
thus it is where metacognition
would take place.
The color lacks meaning to
the lay man and display that
true meaning lies within the
other elements of the image.
Color (Value): I will choose a
light grey background
because lighter colors
naturally recede to the
background, so it will bode
well for my image.

The heads and gears are the
main focus of the image. For
within these elements lays the
message.
The lack of negative space
makes the main image evoke
more meaning because the
viewer is not distracted.
Negative Space: The negative
space to help focus the eye to
the main message. By making
the heads and gears larger I
can reduce the amount of
negative space because too
much negative space can be
distracting to the main
message.

The gears with the three

represent the three elements
of metacognition. The three
aspects are planning,
selecting strategies, and
connecting new information
to former knowledge.

By choosing high croma

I will be able to add some
intensity and contrast to my
piece.
Contrast: I will use contrast to
help focus the viewers eye on
the brain. The bright colors in
the brain are in high contrast
to the black silhouette of the
person.
