AGREEMENT

To the student and parent/guardian, please:


1. Read this document carefully to check you understand your responsibilities under this User
Agreement
2. Read through carefully the following policies and regulations which are covered by this
agreement: Code of Ethical Conduct at Ruyton, Responsible Use of Technology Policy and
Responsible Online Behaviour Policy/iCare 1.0
3. Sign the appropriate sections of this document to confirm that you understand and accept it.

We understand that Ruyton Girls School will:


Develop and maintain clear and relevant policies and guidelines relating to the use of digital and
other technologies and communicate these to all members of the Ruyton Community
Provide opportunities for members of the Ruyton Community to develop skills and knowledge
relating to safe and effective use of digital and other technology
Provide a reliable and secure network to facilitate effective learning and communication for all
Ruyton Community members
Provide support to students and staff in their use of school approved and/or owned digital
devices
Keep a copy of this signed User Agreement on file
Respond appropriately to any breaches of this User Agreement.

Student Agreement
I understand that the appropriate use of digital and other technology can enhance my learning
and will be part of the learning experience at Ruyton Girls School
I have read the policies and regulations covered by this User Agreement
I will conduct myself according to these policies and regulations
My use of digital technology will at all times be in line with the values of Ruyton Girls School.

I I have read and understood my responsibilities and agree to abide by the statements outlined
in this agreement. I understand that this agreement covers the use of all digital devices on the
School grounds and at School events, regardless of ownership.

Parent/Guardian Agreement
We understand that Ruyton is supporting students as they learn the skills required to become
successful digital citizens. Ruyton defines a digital citizen as someone who
Is a confident and capable user of technology
Uses technologies to participate in educational, cultural and economic activities
Uses and develops critical thinking skills in the digital environment
Is literate in the language, symbols and texts of digital technologies
Is aware of technology challenges and can manage them effectively
Uses technology to relate to others in positive, meaningful ways
Demonstrates honesty and integrity in their use of technology
Respects the concept of privacy and freedom of speech in a digital world
Contributes and actively promotes the values of digital citizenship.

We understand that Ruyton has policies including the Code of Ethical Conduct at Ruyton,
Responsible Use of Technology Policy and Responsible Online Behaviour Policy /iCare 1.0 which
outline the Schools digital citizenship approach and how this supports learning and teaching.

We understand that the School provides access to the internet and other communications
technologies because it believes that they enhance the learning and teaching process.

We understand that the School encourages responsible behaviour by students when using
technology to help protect themselves and each other from experiencing harm online. We are
aware that this User Agreement is part of that, and that it encourages students to consider how
their actions can affect themselves and those around them.

We have read the policies covered by this User Agreement and have talked with our daughter
about what it means to them. We are happy that our daughter understands what this means
and that she is capable of working within the policies.

We are aware that students can experience challenges when using technology but that the
School makes every effort to support students to manage these challenges effectively. We
understand that by learning to deal with them in a safe environment with the appropriate
support they will be better prepared to deal with those challenges in the future.

If we have questions or concerns about the way in which technology is being used by our
daughter at school we know the School is happy to discuss this with us, and we are aware that
we are welcome to do this at any time.

agreement, both at school and at home
We/I will support the School in the implementation of these policies and regulations

We/I have read this agreement document and am/are aware of the Schools initiatives to
maintain a safe online learning environment, including my/our daughters responsibilities.

Please note: The Code of Ethical Conduct at Ruyton, Responsible Use of Technology Policy can
be accessed in the School Diary and on the School Intranet. The Responsible Online Behaviour
Policy/iCare 1.0 is available on the School Intranet. It is the responsibility of the student and
parent/legal guardian/s to access and read these policies prior to signing this agreement.
