CADD Block Instructions

Hints: (pressing Ctrl+Z = undo), (Moving the wheel on the mouse zooms in or out), and (holding down
the wheel button on the mouse and moving the mouse rotates the part)
DAY 1
1. Install Printer
2. Open ProDesktop (Close the Tip of the Day)
3. Set units to Inches
a. Click Tools>Options
b. Select Units Tab
c. Change both to inches
d. Click OK
4. Open new file
a. Click File>New>Design
b. Close Palette
c. Maximize new window
5. Click Shift+W and Shift+A
6. Select the Rectangle tool from middle of right hand tool bar (cursor turns into a cross hairs)
7. Make a Rectangle
a. Start at the 0,0 on the X-Y axis (black dot)
b. Click and hold down LHM button
c. Drag to the upper right (make it small)
d. Let go of LHM button
8. Click Shift+A
9. Save the Design
a. Click File>Save As
b. Make sure its saving in my documents
c. Name the file your namedesign1.des
d. Click Save
10. Dimension the rectangle
a. Select the dimension tool on the top tool bar
b. Your cursors should change to a pencil
c. Click and let go of one side of the rectangle
d. Click and hold the other side of the rectangle
e. Drag the measurement outside of the rectangle and let go
f. Do the same for the other two lines
g. Click on the number until it opens a dialog box
h. Set the height to 3
i. Set the length to 5.25
11. Click Shift+A
12. Make the rectangle 3-D
a. Click the extrude tool on the bottom tool bar next to the
b. Set the distance to 1.5
c. Click OK
13. Rotate the block
a. Hold down the wheel button on mouse
b. Move the block to an isometric view (move mouse slightly up and to the right)
14. Save the file again
DAY 2
15. Open the file from Yesterday
16. Click on the select face tool on the right tool bar
17. Select the top face
a. Move the mouse over one of the top edges until it highlights the four lines that make up
the top face
b. Click the mouse (it should highlight the top face)
18. Right Click the top face and select new sketch
19. Click OK
20. Click Shift+W and Shift+A
21. Use the rectangle tool to make a small rectangle in the lower left corner of the top face
22. Dimension the rectangle to 1.5x2.625
23. Remove the material from the corner of the block
a. Click the extrude tool
b. Select below workplane button
c. Select subtract material button
d. Set the distance to .75
e. Click OK
24. Click
25. Save the Design again
26. Click File>New>Engineering Drawing
27. Click the Upper Left Template
28. Click the Design in Session button
29. Click OK
30. Draft our Name
a. Click the text note tool on the right tool bar (A)
b. Click and hold the left mouse button any where on the screen
c. Move the mouse cursor to the title block
d. Hold down the shift button and let go of the mouse button
e. Click on the red note until it opens a new window
f. Type your first and last name in all caps
g. Click OK
31. Save the Drawing File
a. Click File>Save As
b. Make sure its saving in my documents
c. Name the file your namedrawing1.dra
d. Click OK
32. Print the Drawing
a. Click File>Print Setup
b. Change Orientation To Landscape
c. Make sure it is printing to SUNSERVER\CADD-LAB-BW
d. Click OK
e. Click File> Print
f. Click OK
33. Hand in your Drawing
