Two wires, SDA (Serial Data) and SCL (Gerial Clock) carry information between devices con- fected to the Bus. Each device connected to ihe Bus has a unique address for receiving data information (a Receiver) ‘from a source (the Transmiiter) ‘The devices are also considered to be a “Master” or a “Slave" when data is transmitted or received. In this Receiver, the "Master" (Micro Processor Unit,|C001) is the device which intiates a data transfer in the ‘Bus line and ‘generates the clock signal required to permit the data to be "SLAVE" Ico0a MEMORY EEPROM USER ITEM FACTORY ITEM "MASTER" 1c001 MICRO PROCESSOR UNIT CONTROL ‘DEFAULT VALUES ‘SUB BRIGHT CONTRAST TINT PICTURE LEVEL HORZ. Instead of adjusting various me- ‘chanical controls individually, many of the control tunctions ‘can be performed electronically using “On Screen Menus’, (The Serviceman Mode). MAKE NOTE AT ALL SETTINGS 10 Switching Power Supply (NAS Chassis) Bs source voltages are produced al the secondary of 7801 ty igh frequency swiching ol aMOSFET vansisor sie 1G804. Also Included in the STK730-020 package is an Am" pier, Error Detector and Over Current Protection circuit. Taliogether, these elroults produce a semi regulated off line power supply circuit which require tew external parts Operation : “The switching action is done in the following way: Starter vottage from the bridge rectifier is applied to 1CB01 pin (the Gate of MOSFET,TR1) through resistors R814 {and R20, TRI tums ON and Drain current starts to tlow {through the primary winding (NP) of T801. Attne same time f2 vollage is Induced at the ND1 winding which Keeps a vollage on the Gate and TR1 slays ON. Drain current continues to flow and increases the voltage across the ‘current detecting resistor R605 (C801 pin 8). This induced voltage is integrated by the RIC time constant of 1C801 internal resistor R3 and external capacitor C828 (pin 7). ‘The voltage 1s applied to the Base of IC601 intemal transistor TRS. Regulation ‘The primary winding of 7801 (NP) and the secondary windings (NS) are wired with opposite polarity. When TR Js conducting, The current flows through winding NP. The secondary windings (NS) have no current because the B+ rectlier diodes biook the flow. ‘The current flowing through TR1 and NP winding increases at alinear rate, When the voltage between Pins 1 and 3 of 1C801 reach a fixed voltage of approximately 40.5V, TAI tums OFF by the operation of ICB01 internal error amp. This provides a state of regulation. ‘The secondary windings NS are wired sotheir voltages are in proportion to the voltage across the ND2 winding. ‘Therefore output voltage is controlled by the error amp monitoring the voltage across ND2 windingand controlsthe ‘conduction of TR RECTIFIER When TRi turns OFF, the energy stored in T801 primary winding (NP) collapses and induces an opposite polarity Voltage across the secondary windings (NS). B+ Rectiier < ANl2 C2 eC ALS O13 Pea ors CRT-BOARD Horizontal Hold Down Circuit ‘This circuit protects against excessive high voltage and GRT beam current. If for any reason high voltage and/or CRT beamcurrent exceeds a predetermined level, the Hold ‘Down Circuit operates to increase horizontal frequency. It {he level nerenses more, the Hold Down Circut wil bank the CRT. CRT heater votage trom pin 6 of tlyback transformer (FBT) ‘7551 is rectitied by diode D531. This voltage is directly proportional to high voltage variations. The voltage is ‘tered and divided down by precision resistors R532/R633 Yo approximately 2.4V and applied to Pin 49 (Hold Down) ot 1C104. With this voltage as 2 normal condition, the Hold Down Circutt is inactive and has no effect on horizontal frequency or blanking the CRT. ‘The Hold Down Circuit inside 16101 is a (NPN) aitterential ‘amp, One base of the differential amp is connected to Pin 49 (approximately 2.4V). The other is connected to Pin 81 through an internal voltage divided of equal resistance. Pin 1 is clamped ata BV DC reference vottage by zener diode (D532. The voltage at the base of the citferential amp Is 3V. (122 0f the reterence voltage, 6V) Basically, the Hold Down Circuit compares the votage at in 49 (approximately 2.4) to haif of Pin 51 (clamped 6V).. CRT heater pulse amplitude from 551 (representative of high voltage) increases, the posttive voltage at the cathode of D531 ang at Pin 49 of IC101 also increase. When the increased DC vottage at Pin 49 exceeds halt of the Pin 51 reference voltage by a predetermined amount, ‘the Hold Down Circuit (dtferential amp) changes conduc- tion state and shits the horizontal count down for a higher ‘sweep frequency (out of syne condition) to prevent ungate operation, For further safety when the Pin 49 voltage Is extremely excessive, another internal differential amp changes state to blank the CRT. ‘An increase in CRT beam current produces more negative ‘ABL voltage at Pin 3 of 551 (FBT) which is coupled to Pin 51 of IC101 via resistor R534. This increased negalive voltage opposes the postive voltage at Pin 51 and lowers the DC reference voltage to less than 6V. This in turn ‘causes the Hold Down Circuito operate sooner when Pin 49 voltage increases. ‘Thus excessive levels of high voltage andlor increased CRT beam current cause determining of the horizontal oscillator frequency and eventual blanking of the CRT to assure operation within safe limits. ‘The Bs circuit andthe Hold Down Circuit are not adjustable. {components in the designated areas of the schematic for cettical parts ara changed. operation of the Hold Down Circuit must be checkedto insure that high voliage and CRT ‘beam currant does not exceed safe operation parameters. Check the following for possible failure: 1. Measure the DC vonage at Pin 49 of 1101 (reading should be close to +2.4V). if not, check D531, RS3t, C581, R532, R533 and iC101. 2, Measure the DC voltage at Pin 51 of 1C101. (reading ‘should be +6V) ff not, check RB34, C532, R539, D532, 538 and IC101.
