Content for Capstone Project Proposal Documentation

Project Title

Specific and Short

The title embodies substantive words or phrases that describe the project
Title must be clearly stated and specifically stated to serve some purposes
CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Study

What is the problem or topic you wish to investigate?

How will you approach this project?
Why is this of interest to you and why should we be interested in this topic?
o -state the reason of pursuing the project

Here you say what you will be doing in the remainder of the project so define
carefully your interests and the parameters (scope) of your projected work.

Also remember to keep the project focused don't wander off!

As you collect material and structure an outline keep referring to this section.

State the global, national and local existing projects. (cite examples of each
scope)

Cite references.

1.2 Problem Statement

1.2.1 General Problem
State the general problem of the study (3 to 5 sentences.
What is the real problem?

1.2.2 Specific Problems (emphasis of your problem)

Enumerate specific problems based on the general problem
(bulleted)

1.3 Objectives of the Study

1.3.1 General Objective

Clearly state what is your goal?
State what is your overall objective (4 to 5 sentences)

1.3.2 Specific Objectives

Enumerate specific objectives based on your methodology (bulleted)
i) Assess/evaluate the current implementation of the system.(old)
ii) Design the new system
iii) Develop the new system (follow the SDLC model)
iv) Pilot test the system

1.4 Significance of the Study

Discus the overall benefits of the project (5 sentences)

Enumerate and Discuss specific benefits of the study for each

identified stakeholders

1.5 Scope and Limitation

1.5.1 Scope
The scope of a study is to show the readers what research was covered
within the study.

The information provided in the scope section of a study include only the
facts and theories regarding the subject matter of the study or project.

1.5.2 Limitations
The limitation section of a study is in place to inform the readers of what
constraints were in place to avoid unnecessary information contaminating
the study or project and preventing any type of confusion

1.6 Definition of Terms

Define operational terms used in the study

1.7 Project Cost (covers the 2 semesters)

CHAPTER 2

LITERATURE

2.1 Introduction

This section should:

First, contain the major studies that have been done on this subject.

When you do a search, say on the web, you need to sort out from the reference you
find who is cited or quoted. This may be in a newspaper story where they refer to
General So-and-So or Professor Such-and Such. Or it may be in a footnote where the
leading book and author on the topic are listed.

Second, you need to identify and cite other sources that you found particularly
interesting and useful for this paper.

(Make sure you try to verify the reliability and quality of your sources. The web is full
of deceit and phony stuff. I had a student cite an article from The Onion for one
paper!)
CHAPTER 3

METHODOLOGY

3.1 Information Gathering

3.1.1 Gathering information from the client
a) Discuss clearly what are the necessary information you want to gather
and state the reason why such information need to be gathered
b) Discuss how will/did you conduct information gathering (survey,
interview, collecting existing records and documents, etc.
c) Discuss instruments used if there is any

Note: the information you will gather should be relevant to your research problem.

3.1.2 Analysis
a) Discuss clearly the information gathered by type,
classification, category, etc.
b) Analysis is a process of inspecting, cleaning, transforming, and
modeling data with the goal of discovering useful
information, suggesting conclusion and supporting decision
making.

Note: the result of this section is your input in designing your system.

3.2 System Design

3.2.1.1 Context Diagram
3.2.1.2 UML Diagram
3.2.1.3 Data Flow Diagrams (levels 0-1)
3.2.1.4 Activity Flow Diagram
3.2.1.5 Database Structure
a) Relational Diagram
b) Data Dictionary

Note: Discussion should come first before the actual diagram.

3.3 System Development

3.3.1 Software Tools
Enumerate and discuss each software tool use in your system.
How each tool is being used in your system.
3.3.2 Coding
Discuss the methodology of how you code the system
Use modular technique

3.3.3 Testing
Discuss how you test the integrity of your system.
How will you quantity that the system is passed the test?

3.4 Implementation
3.4.1 Hardware Requirement
List down the minimum hardware requirement of your system
3.4.2 Software Requirement

3.4.3 Network Topology

3.4.4 System Security Design

Discuss the security methods that your system needs
Enumerate and discuss

Discuss the process of the technical observations of the system
Use instrument (survey form, evaluation form)
4.3 Results
4.3.1 Technical Evaluation Results
Discuss the results of the technical evaluation

4.3.2 User Evaluation Results

Discuss the results of the technical evaluation

CHAPTER 5

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS

5.1 Conclusion
Summarize your major findings. Make certain that you directly connect
this section to the introduction you wrote and to what you said you were going to
do in this research. Look at the introduction and make sure that you have clearly
stated in that section what you intend to do in this work.

5.2 Recommendations
Discuss future recommendations on how the system can be improved.
