My name is Sonya Swartzentruber and I will be student teaching in
your childs class with Ms. Barber for the next eight weeks. I will be graduating in May from Regent University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education, with an emphasis in PreK-6th grade. I have spent a great deal of time in Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, and 3rd grade classrooms, from observing to teaching lessons. I just completed my first eight-week student teaching experience in a 3rd grade classroom in Virginia Beach, which was a great learning experience. Although I have not yet worked in a 2nd grade class, I am looking forward to the experience and getting to know and work with your child over the next several weeks.
I have a passion for teaching and feel privileged to be working in
your childs classroom. As a student teacher, I will begin by observing and getting to know each and every student. After observing, I will slowly take over the classroom by planning and teaching each lesson. At the end of April, I will be transitioned out of the classroom and Ms. Barber will once again be in charge of leading the class.
I am looking forward to working at Butts Road Primary and getting
to know and work with this wonderful group of students. I am also pleased to have the opportunity to learn from and teach alongside Ms. Barber to best meet the needs of your student. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at sonyswa@mail.regent.edu. Thank you for your time!
