Note: Answer ALL the questions

1. G code used to give data in Inches is G20 (01)

2. State the difference between absolute and incremental coordinate system (01)
In absolute programming, all coordinate values are relative to a fixed origin of
the coordinate system. Axis movement in the positive direction does not
require inclusion of the sign; while negative movements do require signs
In incremental systems, every measurement refers to a previously dimensioned
position (point-to-point). Incremental dimensions are the distances between
two adjacent points.
3. M code used to coolant on is M07 or M08 (01)
4. Formula to find index of performance is METAL REMOVAL RATE(MRR) (01)
IP= ---------------------------------------
TOOL WEAR RATE (TWR)
5. M code used to Spindle on counter clock wise is M04 (01)
6. With a neat sketch explain the Adaptive Control Constraint System with its (04)
benefits

When the cutting force decreases due to decreased work piece hardness or depth or
width of cut, the feed rate is increased to maximize the MRR.

When the cutting force increases due to increased work piece hardness or
depth or width of cut, the feed rate is reduced to compensate.

If the cutter force is below the threshold level, the controller assumes that the
cutter is passing through an air gap. When an air gap is sensed, the feed rate is
doubled or tripled to minimize the time wasted traveling across the air gap.

When the cutter reengages metal on the other side of the gap, the feed reverts
back to the cutter force mode of control.

Benefits of adaptive control machining:

1. Increased production rate

Online adjustments to allow for variation in work geometry, tool wear,

material hardness provide the machine with the capability to achieve the
highest MRR that are consistent with existing cutting condition. This
capability translates into more parts per hour.
2. Increased tool life

AC system provides a more efficient and uniform use of the cutter throughout
its tool life. Because adjustments are made in the feed rate to prevent to sever
loading of the tool, cutter will be broken.
3. Easier part programming

Defining speed and feed in program

4. Less operator intervention

5. Greater part protection

7. Write CNC program to machine the part shown in the figure. Assume suitable (06)
machine parameters.
