Penicillin

Penicillin is a very important invention of the 20th century. Invented in 1928 by

Alexander Fleming, this helped cure many diseases. Medicines were made from this,
and was the first serious treatment for disease. Without this today, people would be
dying left and right from all the germs we have in the world.
 Cell Phones

We use Cell phones every day, and they were invented in 1979 by Martin Cooper. Cell
phones are one of the most important inventions of the 20th century because it helps
with communication immensely. You can talk with people, look things up on the internet,
and much more. This definitely changed the way the world is today.
 Flight

Flight was invented in 1903 by the Wright brothers. Flight is such an important invention
because it helps us go to places so fast, and helps us go overseas faster than just by
boat. It helps us travel, trade, etc.
 DNA Structure
DNA is the heredity material in our bodies, and is the information that makes up our
bodies. James Watson and Francis Crick found out that DNA was in a shape of a
double helix in 1953. DNA is so important because it helps us understand more of the
human body, and why people have certain characteristics.
 Model T

The Model T is an amazing invention of the 20th century. It was the first affordable
automobile, which is a big deal! People could finally get farther places quicker, instead
of by foot. It was invented in 1908 by Henry Ford.
 I placed Penicillin first because I think that medicine is the most important type of

invention of all. If you think about it, we wouldnt be here now without medicine because

that is what keeps us alive; and without being alive all these other inventions dont

matter. Secondly, I think cell phones come shortly after. Cell phones are such an

amazing invention because it made communication so much better. So many things

have come from cell phones, and we should really be thankful for them. Flight is after

because being able to fly overseas instead of sailing is so much better in many ways. It

is faster, easier, and just more convenient overall. The ability to understand DNA

structure comes after that. I think it is amazing that we get to know what our bodies are

made of, and why we act certain ways. Lastly, the Model T invention. I decided to put

this one last because it is definitely worthy of being one of the top 5 inventions of the

20th century, but after all the other ones I picked. We could live without it, but we cant

live without Penicillin, for example. I like to think of this invention as the cherry on top.
