Evaluation Question 4: Who would be the audience for

your media product?

The target audience was a major factor in what influenced our media
product as it has a big impact of what content can go into it. This is why i
decided the target audience would be teens from ages 15+ and young
adults. I chose this age range as the content of a war genre is quite
mature and graphic which would only be suitable for somewhat older
viewers, this is also linked to the British board of film classification which
gives films their age ratings. The graphic content of the genre contains
gore, blood, violence and maybe torture and this is why it should be a
older age range as it will be more suited for them. I also think that the
violence would appeal to the teenagers more, for example the
teenagers/young adults would like the brutality and fast paced action of
the film Fury where they are fighting of the Germans inside the tank.

Another audience we targeted were the fans of the war genre. This was
an obvious choice of audience as the common viewers will like the
concepts and general conventions of a war film which our production
contains. The use of guns, violence, destruction and chaos all appeal to
this group of people and that is why I chose them as a general audience
to produce and aim our product at. I would also consider to make the
film appeal to the middle aged males from ages of 30+ as they would
like the more emotionally impactful side of war for example the scene
within the film Fury where the tanks crew meet the german family in an
apartment.

Overall I think that the target audience has a big impact on what content
i had to put into my product as the likes and dislikes of the target
audience would change the ideas and conventions of the final product.
For example the fact that the target audiences like the violence and
intensity of the war genre means that i had to include those themes in
my production. The fact that the target audiences would not like the
soppy emotional side side of wars, for example scenes with a lot of
depressed atmosphere and crying will not appeal to the audiences so i
cut down on those themes and kept them to a minimum.
