Cases of teenage pregnancy in the Philippines continue to arise over two decades
and is considered as the only country in the Pacific-Asia where this situation stays to
increase, U.N. Fund Population said.
The Philippines total fertility was 3 births per woman as of 2013 falling at slow
rate of 1.6 percent per year from 7 births per woman in 1960 but the poorest
quintile of population has a higher fertility rate of 5.2 births per woman as of 2013.
Pernia added that the administration aims to reduce the poverty by 1.25 percent
to 1.5 percent each year, and it would be done by reducing the number of children
among poorest family people.
