Research Topic: Young generation prefer their friends over parents while taking decisions

Research Question: Why does young generation prefer their friends over parents while taking
decision?

Hypothesis:

Young generation is much attached to their friends more than their parents and they find it
comfortable to share the information about their decisions on new interests with their friends.

Significance of research:
I am conducting my research in order to show how the thought of young generation have
changed. Previously, children used to share the decision with their parents where they have
shown the right path to their children. Now with tide of time the flow of information changing
has changed. Children are now sharing their information with their friends. They find it more
comfortable to take important decision of their life taking help from their friends and thus it is
creating a bad impact on their life.

Parents are always being an important guideline for their children have changed their mindset
and now they are not interested to ask their parents anything about their new interest. They have
found they best alternative who are giving advice in their own way that has always proved
wrong. A friend of same age have not seen the world as much as the [parents did. Friends can
direct through a wrong path and the young generation is not the fact. On my research, young
generation psychology will be tested on how they are asking their friends while moving to a new
interest. However it is urgent to let the young people know that not only the friends but the
parents can be good companion. Thus it will serve the society to direct our young people to the
right path and this will pull the parents closer to their children.

Methodology:

My research paper will contain both primary and secondary sources equally. To determine how
todays generation prefers their friends over their parents I will conduct a survey through my
questionnaire. I will collect my primary data through this survey and my respondents will be
North South University students as it is not possible for me to collect door to door data
collection. The age of my participants will be 18-25 and I will do my survey on 25 participants.
For my secondary research, I will gather information from internet. For this I will use YAHOO
and GOOGLE search engines. Moreover I will include some newspaper and journals for my
secondary source to prove my hypothesis.

Time Frame:

I am submitting my final research proposal on March 18, 2012. After it is approved, I will start
working on my questionnaire draft and will submit the draft to the faculty for her approval. After
the approval I will ask my respondents to fill up my questionnaire and write my final research
paper on my survey and sources. After I am done preparing my final project I will start working
on my presentation.
