Argumentative Essay

Mixed Method

When you hear the word zoo, what do you think of? Most people usually think

of different animals, children, and having a good time. But what most people dont see is

how these animals are taken from their original habitat for our entertainment. Zoos don't

hurt people on purpose or hurt the animals, stupid people do and that's what is giveing

zoos bad reputations. These animals are kidnapped from their home and moved to a

different home called the zoo.

There are various types of things that occur in a zoo, such as animal cruelty. Many

bad things can happen to animals in the zoo. First of all, These animals did not just come

from the air, they had to be found somewhere and captured. But they were not all

captured for entertainment, some were taken so that doctors could help them if they were

injured. Some animals in the zoo are treated so terribly that it is unbearable to even hear.

For example, some zoos are unaware of how to even take care of a particular animal, so

that can lead to something bad, like lets say a bear going into hibernation. To go into

hibernation the bear has to eat a lot so it can gain a lot of weight to burn off during the

winter, there was a zoo that did not give the bear any food or water leading up to winter,

starving the bear to death.

I honestly dont believe that all zoos are bad. They are just misunderstood. Zoos

can also benefit animals. Lets take a baby cub that has lost his mom for example. The
cub has no idea how to live on its own, so people take the bear and feed it and nourish it

and give it a safe place to stay that is kind of similar to their original home. Also, if there

was an injured animal, instead of just leaving it to do, people can take it to the zoo where

they can nurture it back to health and then give the animal a place to stay. The zoo gives

sick animals who wouldnt make it in the wilderness and helps them survive. Then

depending on the animal, they let it go.

There is a way to make both zoo visitors and animals happy. One way that we can

compromise is to take in the injured and the orphaned animals. If injured, help bring that

animal back to help and then let it go, back to where it came from. If orphaned and too

small to let go, I believe that it will be ok to keep the animal at the zoo, taken very good

care of. This way,we can avoid animal cruelty and just be able to help the animals.
